This stone came to me in pretty much this shape. But shonky. I've re-cut every face at least once added a few extras and polished it half a dozen times. There's still just a hint of the irregular cutting that was, on the reverse, but perfecting it would risk the stone. I searched around for a piece of jade that would be a bit of a challenge. Not too much tho'... I trued the square and flattened the base. It's not a triangle; more of a pentangle, but with two short sides you don't really see; then shaped the apices.

Fun! Shonky? Wanna define that for our American ears? Shonky: a hybrid of Shoddy and Wonky Shoddy, means second rate, approaching cr@p in terms of quality. In fact Shoddy was a manufacturer, local to here - Dewsbury - they recycled things made from wool. I think they made uniforms for the World War(s) not sure which, both or any. But of course being recycled they were markedly inferior. In the trenches no doubt everything just rotted / fell apart anyway. Does "wonky" need translating? We'll be here all night... That Jade is some beautiful stone! Thanks fossilman Of course the title 'New Jade' refers to new work in NZ Nephrite Jade, Pounamu I'm just aware that 'New Jade' is a pseudonym for Serpentine / Serpentinite, which this isn't.

Clearly not serpentine. I like the apple green, haven't found any I could afford yet. I have a bit of several olive and darker varieties and a little of the pink and purple.

Shoddy didn't need translator either! Oh! Internationally famous levels of cr@pness, that is an achievement!
