These are mostly from Lake Superior, but there are a couple from Lake Huron. One is from Drummond Island. This is my favorite. I entered it in the Tumble Off contest. I think it is chert. Last summer Drummond Island Rocks invited me to his cottage on Drummond Island. I picked this up near the quarry there. This is an end cut. I liked the stripes, but I didn't really expect it to tumble well. I was pleasantly surprised. This is my second favorite rock. Maybe it's my favorite. I can't decide. This was almost my entry in the Tumble Off contest. I found it in Lake Superior on a cold, rainy day last June. Christmas rock. Pudding stones. I don't know what this is, but I picked it up in Lake Huron this spring. It's sort of plain, but the pink color is very unusual for here.

Great looking rocks. Really like that chert.
Hope to finish a load of Michigan rocks by the end of summer myself.

Very nice mixed batch Rob. The Christmas rock (I am pretty sure it is a VERY nice type of quartz granite) is my favorite because 1) the colors are so vivid, and 2) you did a great job on this notoriously pit-prone material. Too bad you can't get a wheelbarrow full of that stuff.

I'm liking all your self collected tumbles. That chert piece is very unique.

Your Christmas Rock is Unakite, a form of altered granite. The pink is orthoclase (Feldspar), the green is Epidote, the blue-green is Quartz. Your colours are more vivid than what I find locally. Nice finds.
Darryl.

Could be unakite, but it's different than the unakite I usually find. Usually, there's not much or any white and the green and red tends to be smeared together. There are several pieces of the "normal" unakite in the first picture.

I had to look that one up. My sister has that, but I forgot what it was called. My sister hasn't been near my rock though, so it didn't catch it from her.

Sorry, I know more medical terminology than mineral lexicon at this point. Just a guess...
