I was gone most of the day Saturday and got home late, but my eight year old was busy collecting fossils from the creek, unbeknownst to me. When I went to the garage to check my tumblers Sunday morning, I found a backpack full of rock. 26 pounds of rock, which is nearly half his bodyweight. Maybe five pounds of it was mud, but mostly rock. My wife says it was sweet, but comical, watching him lug it to the house. Oh, and he likes to use the label maker too.

So cute, you did not even have to wait until Father's Day!

Very nice complete pedicle valve of an orthid-type Paleozoic Era brachiopod in top left carbonate rock chunk (at about center of the chunk).

Brings a tear to you eye. It could have been a backpack full of gravel but it came from his heart and it's all for My Dad. Great job.

Thanks all, I have two good boys. Proud of them both. Also glad they don't mind me borrowing their Christmas present to tumble rocks.

As a joke, make a label 'label maker' for the label maker. He will laugh himself to sleep tomorrow night.
All sentiments previously shared apply here. Mine is a girl, 19 and off to university. Im an empty nest now.
Thanks for sharing your story. I sincerely loved it!
