Looks like a pretty good design, always finding old gear boxes laying around. This one has 1725 rpm motor and 50:1 gear box so should run 34.5 rpm. www.lots4bid.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?lotsfor15/187What is a good rpm for a tumbler? Is the pvc a good barrel?

15-50 is common for 6" vinyl barrels

Well as far as the PVC barrel goes. Been using one for over a year now with no problems. Line the inside of the barrel with a rubber sheet of some kind, cuts down on noise and the rocks won't side, they will tumble. It's cheaper than buying one from a rock tumbling company.

Looks like a heavy bugger. Shipping costs probably offset the low price.
