I have just opened up a rock shop and was wondering if anybody might or would be willing to point me in the right direction to purchase bulk low grade fossils to pass along to the kids that come through the shop with they're parents. I was thinking of doing a sand box type set up with shark teeth, amenities, and trilobites that are partial..etc..I am also looking for fish plates with partials that I could purchase at a good price. If you have any information it would be very much appreciated...I know that I should be going after better grade material, however it's going to free for the kids and it's really all I can afford at this time until I'm able to recoupe some of my money that I have already invested to get the shop open. I am not looking for handouts I would just really appreciate a good contact on this. Thank You for reading and I wish you the best sincerely, Mark...MLOGANROCKS...

I slab up coprolite and break it up to give kids. I have a pile of dino dung that looks like a large pile of dog poop but shows the color thru a vhip. I get the kids to hold it and then mist the broken slabs with water and get them to pick one! They love it!

I do have small pieces of coprolite, however they are very small, not Really slabbing material. I have been giving them tumbled Agates and thought allowing them to get a scoop out of a sandbox would be exciting for them. Happy 4th and thank you So much for the idea, Best Regards from the Oregon Coast...Sincerely, Mark...

Doesn't have to be a fossil I guess - even digging up an agate would be fun... got to make them work for it though ... bury the best ones under a brick or pieces of cinderblock ... just kidding - my mind goes dark at times.

Your getting some good ideas but you have already learned a lot yourself. Get the kids interested and the adults will come with the money.

Hi, have you found a retailer yet for fossils? I collect fossils on the Jacksonville, Florida beaches (mostly tutle shell fragments but lots of other stuff too.). Let me know if interested and I could send you a small box to check it out. I am not out to sell any and could not supply a huge operation but it would be a fun project to do with the kids and maybe if you like them get a few rocks in return . How many pieces would you need to start?

The whole sellers are horrible to the schools on pricing from what I've gathered so far, i guess they figure that schools have the big budgets...Thank You for the support.

I've got a bunch of shark teeth and baculite, probably more than i need. Also some ammonite, clams etc. Shoot me a message and we can put together something for starters. This is all Wyoming / South Dakota origin, collected since the 1940s.
