Went to HF and bought a 7 lb jar of sand blast grit. 40/70 all glass and was real cheap. Made by a local company. I will give it a try. Can't find any other postings on this type grit. It's 5minutes away and I will see what other sizes and material they have to offer. 1, will it out gas or is it too small? 2. Less than a dollar a pound. Not bad and cheap enough for a try 3. What stage should it be tried at to give it a fair shot?
Any other ideas for testing? Don't waste my time is not a good response. thanks

Grit made for sand blasting out of glass. Glass is way too soft to wear rocks. 46/70 is a size designation not a grinding evaluation.

Just giving it a try. On the bottle it has " recommended: best-welding prep, better-aluminum or brass casting good- sheet metal, paint prep, rust removal My thought that it could be a 3rd step.

The ratings on the bottle are for how well the product works as a sandblasting agent. With a mohs hardness of 5.5, glass should be able to polish up things that have less of a mohs rating than that but something harder than 5.5 will turn your grit to powder.

The blasting media I have seen is silica sand, likely about the same hardness as what you are tumbling, might work, slowly, in about third stage as you suggested. Some places use silicon carbide as blasting media, same stuff as tumbling media. What does the stuff look like; color?

It's white are maybe clear. It's made just down the street so I may checkout what else they have. Maybe a mixture just for me or rocks. Never hurts to also and maybe They have some ideas.
