Have to journey to Maui next week for our Son's wedding and wondering if anyone had collected the so called "Maui Diamonds" that exists there, and where? The info I find say they are actually Olivine or Peridot and of course are not real Diamonds. If I can't collect any, perhaps I can find a shop that has some for sale. I would love to bring a few back and have RTH's own Micellular facet a few to set in a ring or pendant for the Wife and new Daughter in law. Hopefully I will not invoke Pele's wrath and suffer a lifetime of bad luck if I bring a couple home

I saw the Green sand beach mentioned, but never saw where anyone found anything of usable size. One would think surely there would be some larger ones though. the big problem is a 3 mile one way hike, or hire local jeep drivers to get there. My busted up 'ol back won't handle the hike and a jeep ride on rough trails wouldn't be too much fun either, so may have to pass

Went there with my wife when I lived in Hawaii in the 80's - it was a bit of a hike, but it was totally deserted and pretty cool. Still have a large mason jar of the green sand I collected there. I found no crystals larger than a pencil point and those only on relatively fresh lava rocks.
