Not windy but the swamps were already high and the rivers were at or above flood stage already before this rain got here. It's wet, very wet. Just day lite and the ditches are overflowing in the back yard. No danger to the horse barn or house. I am the highest point in NC, 15 fett oboe sea level. If I flood the eastern half of NC floods. Problem being when it's this wet the shallow rooted trees fall over without much wind. Then the power goes out and they can't get to the blown transformers in the swamps. Sometimes they can wade with chest waders puling a flat bottom boat with the new transformer. Power boats won't work, too many vines. Stumps and ssplings. It's like fire the grill up and eat from it. So that's it, the eye is on the coast well south of us in Charleston SC. I am on the SC and NC border about 60 miles as the crow Flys from Myrtle Beach. The northern quadrant always gets the most rain and wind so we r getting dumped on. Just thought yall might b interested.

Ride the storm out safely orrum ! Sister lives in Ponte Vedra (Sawgrass), on barrier island off Jacksonville. Evacuated into Jacksonville to get off island. The storm is passed and over, but the bridges to beach remain closed (as of last night) so they can't get home to check on things. That's why many are hesitant to evacuate. You know many folks didn't evacuate. So there are some in area with ill intent and folks that did the right thing can't get home to protect & secure property.

Stay safe!
We are going to get more rain than originally thought, but it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

orrum must be getting hammered. We are getting torrential rains and a lot of wind... way more than we expected. "36 to 39 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph" No, it's not a lot, but certainly it wasn't expected this far north. Many streets are flooded already and we still have a day of heavy rain left.

Well, we lost power. My daughter's neighbor's big ass tree came down on the neighbors house and clipped their privacy fence. My neighborhood is flooded. Still gusty as hell.

They are flying drones over Hwy A1A, the sunshine parkway along coast at Flagler Beach near St Augustine. Highway is gone.
Got three cousins and elderly aunt in St Augustine. 3 houses, all 2 miles from beach. All evacuated except Tracy; he stayed and dog sitter ed all their dogs. There houses in OK shape. But beach got pounded. They were all in B flood zone, so fair high up.

This was not even tropical storm force winds but what rain and of course we were wet alrrady! No damage to horse barn, run in sheds, out buildings or home or animals so all is good#

The storm changed it's mind about what to do and we got way more than anticipated. Still waiting for power....

Cooking breakfast on the deck with the gas grill and camping stove. Life is good! It's a cool morning and a bright Carolina blue sky!!! Went driving yesterday and this puts hurricane Fran and Floyd to shame. I am so lucky no blessed that I am not flooded or house torn up!!! I could not get but a couple miles from home and tried all the roads. The grapevine says all of southeastern Carolina is down and out. Simple things....LOL. We would be sitting pretty if we had our solar equiped travel trailer here but it's in the shop for brakes!!! LOL My pickup camper has solar so we have drip coffee and a small propane fridge and freezer. The small generator is running well and powering the freezer but gasoline for it is a serious ptoblem. Might have to get my old West Virginia credit card out and address that problem. LOL. I hate swallowing gas.

Finally got the power back.... not bad, only took 3 days. They were predicting 5. We had the second highest power outage in history. That's what they are saying, anyway. When they thought the storm would miss us, they sent our electric trucks to NC, so we got caught with our pants down.

3 days without power + pants down = spike in birth rate next July.

I want to see if our area gets the aid that New Orleans and New Jersey got??? My guess will be a big no!!! Oh well we have a small voice I geuss....
