What do you all use and how do you do the final polish on Rosetta Stone? It is really SOFT! I've got some small preforms to practice on and was wondering the final step so as not to mess up these 30x40s.

I take mine to 3k grit on the wheel, then polish with 50,000 grit diamond paste. Nice cut's there.

Thanks NM. Ah that I had that type of equipment. I'm still using my old Cab-Mate and after the rough grind everything is done on a neoprene backed disc.

Finally warmed up enough here to grind some cabs. Problem in the winter is it gets cold enough that even starting with hot water it gets cold and the cabs come of the stick. Anyway here's a few I did today. Still learning a technique for this stone before I tackle the preforms shown above. This stuff is soft, my guess is a 3 - 3 /12 Mohs. Also has a lot of tiny pits. Thinking maybe tin oxide on a buffing wheel for a final polish next time. If you rotary tumble it grinds fast. Starting at 220 it'll go wafer thin by the time you finish polishing. These I went from the saw to 500 to AO polish. Just some left overs from trimming for cabs. Wondered how they'd turn out. Got some other stuff rolling in 400 right now. Ought to be pretty neat when it comes out in a couple weeks. Pics then.

I've used optical grade cerium on leather with good results. I spray the leather with a little water to just make the stone drag on the pad a bit. Watch the heat too as, if you hold too hard too long you can get the cab too hot and crack it.....Mel
