Lots of people here know the best site for new or used equipment. Im looking for a sphere making machine. 1.0" to 2.0" diameter, 2 to 3 heads, new or used. I know some sphere machines are big bucks, don't have that. Ive been checking sites but no luck yet. Dont know my price range until I see the average cost. That may stop me from looking.
If you see one for sale let me know the link and I will check it out.
Maybe I can find the deal of the century. or maybe try to make one.
thanks

Dale, Sphere machines are never cheap and always in demand. In all the time I have been on this website there have been two sold. I bought both of them. If you can handle lower precision but still totally fun and anle to make nice looking rock balls Look here: home.earthlink.net/~jmcdohsd/id13.html

Thanks for putting that link up @shotgunner, nice to see someone building simple basic machines at affordable prices. I looked through the whole site, fun place to visit. He sure isn't secretive about people doing their own either, rare person.

No, everything is trash. The wood looks like it came off of a Chinese shipping crate and the stuff is held together with sheet rock screws.
It falls apart and is such garbage that it is not worth trying to fix.

But you could copy the design also reuse the hardware? Motors can be a pain to find.

I would advise you not to even consider it. I have had the stuff in my hand and what you get is not worth the money. McDonald is taking surplus junk and making probably 1,000% on it. Sure the bead mill plate which he turned out on a wood lathe is pretty good, the rest of what you get is trash and you would be ahead just fabricating it yourself and hunting down a couple motors.

Motors can be a pain to find. Mark K has a good point. It's super easy to make. And cheap too! the Motors are $6 HERE

Intermittent duty motors for lapidary? I don't think so. Plus I bet the bearings are not designed for much side load. There's a like new good quality sphere machine in the estate I'm helping with, but shipping to Ohio?
