Finally did SiC30 to AO 80 to AO 14,000 run all the way thru in the rotary. 14 days in 80 and 14 days in 14,000, never opened the barrel except to clean out AO 80. Maybe could have run in less time. Don't know. 7-8 pounds. No pre-grind. All self collected (in January captbob). 4 pounds about perfect tumbles, 3 pounds had crack or divot here and there. I get the same polish doing 2 days AO 80 and 18 hours in Vibrasonic. To heck with long rotary run times, prefer vibe for finishing. slacker photos, just changed focal plane

Killer shine on some nice material jamesp. AO 80 is game changer, it appears. Dunno if it is the killerest shine Randy. It's just easy and sterile and good enough. Thanks I did save a lot of time chipping those off of thickly sawn slabs. Dodged sitting at the grinder.

Like it. Looks like some wood and other such stuff. What's that conglomerate looking thingy? Conglomorite? Is it the same hardness as the rest of the batch?

Henry, AO 14,000 is simply polish. Get it anywhere. Self collected in January huh? From some of those Flat Rate boxes sitting in your yard I hope! Gotta like the new 3 step tumbling!

Does make sense though, not having to open the lid until polish. Great results and even better process innovation!

You guys say a prayer for me. I am removing her ventilator today after being on it for a few days (per Doctor's recommendations). Doc says she is no longer able to sustain herself. I have been taking care of her since she became a victim of Alzheimer's 11 years ago. She has been one cool Mom. Over the top. Me and Mom about 8 years ago.

Colin, that conglomerate is what looks like all cherts of various colors with a good solid fill. Yep, seems to tumble like Mohs & rocks. It did undercut a tiny bit at an occasional soft rock in the mix, but not much. I will do some close ups on that batch soon.

Gone From My Sight
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
- Henry Van Dyke

Parents have been a permanent part of the universe our whole lives. It is daunting to contemplate the world without them. To a totally untrained observer such as myself it looks like she had a long life and a loving son who cared for her for a long time when she was unable to express her love and appreciation for his hard work. You are giving her one final gift, the gift of peace and an end to her suffering.
When my Father passed in 1992 the movie Toys had just come out and i saw it soon after the funeral. The theme song from the movie is "At the Closing of the Year". I though the opening line of the song was "If i cannot bring you comfort then at least i bring you home". Now that i can see the lyrics on Youtube i see that the last word is actually hope. Still i think the song has something to say about the passing of a parent because something significant is passing from our life. Anyway here is a link to the song. It still makes me cry.
