Hello All, I got 5 stones recently and can not positively identify them, I've heard of some suggestions. One said ricolite, aventurine, californite, ammonite, and jadeite? Anyone with suggestions, knowledge or opinions - would be very appreciated! very odd the second rock has what looks like goldstone rind section (isn't goldstone manmade?) The 4th was suggested could be ricolite, but also clear creek material. stones 3,4,5 said possible could be clear creek jadeite. I have a bunch of other jade, the last rock #5 has some jade looking sections and has a serpentine like sheets on the rind in one section. I mostly collect nephrite, so not positive on any of these, but was told the last stone was some type of jade. All these stones except #4 are fairly translucent, but even the 4th stones has fragments of bright green translucent material. The rocks are broken up as rock 1 (photos 1-3), rock 2 (photos 4/5), rock 3 (photos 6-8) rock 4 (9-11), Rock 5 (12-16) Thanks for the help!!! Stephen ROCK1 ROCK2 Rock3 Rock4 Rock5 - more translucent than photos appear

I've seen pieces of maw sit sit, jadeite roughs that look like some of these. so many green stones.... so tough to identify compared to classic fibrous nephrite...been told some of these came from clear creek area but they didn't collect themselves.

#1 and (maybe #2) sure looks like quartzite to me. So aventurine is certainly a possibility. I dont see jade in any of them. Maybe #3? #5 has an agatey look but not color. Have you done any testing? Specific gravity? Acid? Scratch with a knife? Scratch color on porcelain? What can you offer us to help zoom you in. A pile of green rocks of unknown provenance with no diagnostics are just that. A pile of green rocks.

i was planing on cutting off chunks and do SG tests for them. i thought #3 and #5 were some type of jade possibly from clear creek area - this was suggested to me, it would help to cut slabs to see the stone true without rough . any suggestions are appreciated. thanks.

A quick hardness test would confirm jade or otherwise. There is also serpentine in the Clear Creek area that can look/feel like jade at times.

I was thinking 4 could be Mariposite with specks of pyrite. Seen that before.
I thought 2 looked like aventurine.

I have no idea what any of them are, but I think you best start using rock no. 4 real soon as I see lots of specks of black mold all over it, and you don't want it to totally spoil!
