Has anyone dopped to an un-even surface? I picked up a good bit of bytroidal this past week in the Bouquet area south of Marfa Texas. Many of those are nice size for polishing to make pendants. Do not want to tumble as that will ruin the bytroidal. Was hoping to grind and polish the backside on my wheels and belts. In a lot of cases the Bouquet/Plume runs flat under the bytroidal in a flat orientation. A two sided pendant with bouquet nd bytroidal would be pretty nice. Not sure the dop will hold to the bytroidal or clean up well.
Thanks

I've never tried it, but I would forgo the dop stick and do it all by hand. Lots more control.
Your two-sided pendant sounds very nice!

Tried a small piece by hand earlier today, about 1 inch by 3/4 inch and about 1/4 inch thick, it was a bit difficult to hold. Never lost my grip but never felt comfortable. Not sure I trust my fingers and don't want to send it bouncing around the garage!!
There's some primal attractiveness to bytroidal that forces me to always pick it up, can't resist.

a tip an old lapidary taught me, fill the gaps with salt or sugar before you dop it. then no wax gets in the voids or vugs, the wax will grip to what it can.
