Among the many pieces of lapidary equipment i got a while back I got this in the group. Not able to find much info on it online. the disks are brass, no grit that i can see. So how do i use this lol and any info would be great (i'm thinking made 1940s or earlier)

It's lovely!
Any words or symbols etc on it?
Electric I see what happens when it is plugged in, turned on?
Looks like water residue. I would guess some sort of flat lap.

The lap should unscrew, and laps of various grits should be available. (most likely with a 1/4"X 20 thread.) Looks to have a drum switch that could reverse the motor. cool item very useful. Does it work? Or should I say does the motor run.

Might also need a faceting arm for this thing

You don't know what is embedded in the disc so I would clean it really well and buy a magnetic disc to glue on. Then you could buy magnetic laps for it. What size lap?

I think its an 8 inch if i recall. Ive seen a video on how they to put diamond in it. I don't have the arm for faceting so it probably won't do me a lot of good. I'll probably remove the brass and put in the modern setup to use for cabs and what not.

How does the lap attach? No hole is a nice feature. Check out Covington's "Maxi Laps" and their magnetics. Reportedly they work very fast on flats.

It's got a notch and side slit. It's sorta put it on and lock it sideways.
