Had to pick a gravel pit today , river is too high . Came back with a little bit of potential . Group shot minus a bunch of somewhat blah lookers , nice patterns and hematite , gonna be nice cut , real nice tight bands of different colors and hematite , small 2-3 inch , couple of last years tumbles trying to show the hematite shining like silver . Terrible pic but I have all kinds of excuses for that . Thanks MrMike . Forgot to mention , table top is 2x8s I'm jealous because you guys have such clean rocks up there & makes the picking easier. Down here they have a brown coating or slime.

Here you ususally have to wait for a good rain to wash the rocks off in the pits. Depending on the pit most of them are covered with a brown coating and slime. The bright reds can shine through sometimes.

Sometimes all ya see is just a hint of color when looking in the pits . Yesterday was decent picking in the rain until we were dripping wet and temps in the 50s made us say enough rocks . The rivers and banks have the clean rocks for another month or two . Then they start getting algae growing on them .

Love the rich red color - not like the orange red we typically get here. Looking forward to seeing the cuts.
