So I am back at home in NC. Just emptied all the tumblers. I have a 1.5 pound Lortone barrel that has been rollin a mix of garnets (several types), rubies, and sapphires forever. They r n rounded to suit me. They are self collected in the mountains of NC. Several colors of sapphire but mostly gray or blackish.
I want to put them in the Loto with s bunch of ceramics. I have Rockshed AO and also JS Gems special AO. I also have Tin Oxide and some Cerium.
Will any of these polish my garnets and sapphire ruby mix???
Loto would be normally be.... 2 days 220 SC 2 days 500 SC 2 days 1000 AO 24-48 hours of Rockshed AO
Thanks. Bill

I would think garnets would tumble to a shine with just about anything as they are from 6.5 to 8.5 hardness. don't know about the others. my non scientific rule of thumb would be the longer they take to round up the better the polish. I have some garnets in my 3lbs barrel right now. cant wait to see how they come out.

Yes, that recipe should easily polish garnets.

Garnets are hard but they are no match for aluminum oxide or SiC Bill.
