Can't answer because I like different thickness. Examples would be very thick in a rotary of obsidian, I add old saved slurry to it and plenty of borax. It cushions. On hard rock just starting in a rotary with sharp edges I like thin so the chip away at each other in the begginning. The vibe Loto I like very thin with no borax in the beggining cause the coarse stage gets too thick fast. After that stage you have to go by movement speed, if they are moving too slow you add spritzes of water to thin and speed them up. To thin and they will bruise or chip fragment like. The bottom line is different batches need different slurry. I have two Lotos side by side and they are so different in rotation speed and also in big pieces versus a small size mix. That's why this is s "art" and not a science!!!

I'm with orrum, the more fragile, the thicker the slurry.... I'm sitting at the same table as fossilman and orrum . Thanks guys for reaffirming and Wooferhound for putting this thread up. Liked Orrum's thoughts on the first part of vibe when it gets thick early and also the hard edges of new rough needing to be thinner for faster rounding. Drive the tumblers like a race car.
