Done. okay. Not the direction I would go, but I don't want to start a holster debate, and to each their own. DO NOT GET A THIGH HOLSTER. You ain't Lara Croft or a 13 year old playing a video game.

"Losing" your gun may work as an dodge against tracking or registration in FL but other states don't have it so good. Laws vary a little but in general lost or stolen guns must be reported to the state in California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Rhode Island.
Here in Crazyfornia it's almost impossible for non-celebrites or those without political clout to get a concealed carry permit. I've tried, and I used to carry large amounts of valuables for business purposes. No go.

What is this registration you mention? We don't register guns in Florida. Tracking?? And private sales are private. No records. Only records are the 4473 forms that must be filled out if going through a FFL dealer. And the .gov isn't supposed to be able to access those either without a warrant.
I was being facetious about losing my gun in a boating accident. That's the oldest (joke) excuse in the book. Although, I did have my boat flipped over once!
ETA: asked about any gun that could be linked back to me, I can just say "I sold that". But, if someone shows up at my door looking for guns, we've got bigger problems that that.

Yes I got the joke -- have heard it for years. Doesn't it refer to people who don't want anyone to know they own guns, especially the government? The reasons I generally hear are to protect against any form of gun tracking, registration or confiscation.
Not all gun sales are private and when you buy from a licensed dealer there's record. In the states mentioned, if a gun is used in a crime and the person who bought it claims it was lost or stolen, such person is in trouble if they didn't report it.

Need to move that the permit

Alien Gear makes a nice holster for a reasonable price. I wear them when clearing trails for hours while bending, lopping, sawing etc and they are quite comfortable even in our Texas heat.
Gorram anti gun Commiefornia is hardly a part of Merica any more. I think Trump's wall should go along the eastern Commiefornia border. Texicans wouldn't put up with any of that crap. They'd tar and feather Jerry the Fairy and run his ass out of the state.....Mel

Moonbeam knows where his votes come from and the push for more illegal voters to maintain the current CA political power structure is in full sway. As for the wall on the east border, some of us still want out -- don't fence us in! Circumstances (in my case) currently make moving impossible. I'm working on changing that and in fact I'm scoping out a couple of other states right now.
It will be interesting to see how the sanctuary state stuff plays out with the Feds, and the current campaign to have CA secede from the Union. My instincts tell me that when you're boiling a frog you have to turn the heat up very, very slowly or he'll notice and jump out of the pot. He might even make a big mess in the kitchen. It seems to me someone got carried away with the thermostat recently and the frogs are getting very uncomfortable and grouchy. Hopefully.

I have an aunt and uncle who have lived in California for many years. She was a teacher, he was a professor. They learned long ago to never ever discuss politics. They would be piled on from all sides for exhibiting conservative ideas. I would even hazard a guess that they would not have made it to retirement if they had not kept quiet. It has gotten much, much worse of late. The only reason they will probably never move out of the state is their children and grand children are all in California.

Moonbeam has shot himself in the foot with the sanctuary city stuff. Immigration says fine, if Commiefornia will not hold criminals for ICE, then ICE will simply do street and business raids which will result in a lot of collateral arrests of non criminal illegals ( although really all are illegal, therefore criminals). Final result will be many more illegals deported than there would have been if the state had simply co operated with the feds. So instead of getting rid of real serious crooks, Moonbeam has screwed folks, who though illegal, have been working and behaving themselves. Dumbass Moonbeam doesn't have the brains of a friggin gerbil!!!!!!....Mel

Also that it is everyone else's fault when their well intended actions fail , because they know what is best for everyone.
