Snooping around my neighbors garage. They gave it to me. Doesn't look like it's been used much. I think I am supposed to fill the dimple in the bottom with epoxy?

I filled the bottom dimple with silicone caulking. It has lasted for 5 years now, and if the plug falls out, I can redo it in no time.

Why don't I have neighbors like that? Oh, because I am a mean nasty so-and-so, that's why!
Anyway, if they have that.... surely they also have rocks they want to part with?

Lucky You......!
It appears to be an older model, but if it works or even costs a little bit to get humming........a far cry from the +$200.00 you would have had to spend new...!
You gotcha a really good vibe grinding machine...!

You gotcha a really good vibe grinding machine...! it turned in and walked across the room. I put a dab of silicone in the dimple this morning.

I should have enough material to put in it by the weekend. Going to try and polish some pre forms. Shaped and polished to 600 wheel. Think some 500 AO for a couple days then polish?

You can give that a try. When I tumble cabs and preforms my main goal is to eliminate any possible scratches so starting at 500 wont work for me because scratches are normally from the 80 or 220 hard wheels. I pretty much just tumble items that are really solid and prone to scratches during normal cabbing steps. I start at 220 but a let that run 8-12 hours before putting my cabs in. If I put them in with fresh 220 it rounds the girdle too much. Stay tuned I just took 10 cabs out of the lot-o today. awaiting photographs. Chuck

I love my LotO, you'll be amazed at what it will do.
So why were you snooping around the neighbors garage anyway???

You are never knowing what you will need at any given time with town being a pretty good trip. So when you get a chance to look around and see what everyone has that might come in handy. Better to be handy than handsome. I also just take random drives just to see what everyone is doing a few times a year looking at what people are doing and equipment. Snooping you just never know. When I used to own a greenhouse the ladies would come and shop for plants and the husbands would look around and see what I had brought home for free. Everyday some guy would say....what are you going to do with that old 52 chev or I've been looking for a pontoon....Like to think of it as a co-ordinater. I am excited to try the lotto out.

I have a few hundred pound of small agate tumbles. Anyone see problems with running pre forms with them as a media?

I have been using the polished smalls as media for my preforms and slabs and they seem to work very well. The smalls are a combination of polished Pea Gravel and polished small agate. They also worked well in the botryoidal load, seemed to help polishing down around the "bubbles". With the botryoidal the smaller media does get trapped in some of the bubbles and I use a Dental Pick to remove. If I sifted out the very small pieces I could probably reduce that problem.
They did not do as well on the Arkansas Quartz/Arkansas Novaculite, there was still some frosting on the bigger pieces of Quartz and on any sharp edges of the Novaculite. Need to follow the advice out here and increase the percentage of smalls in the load to maybe 40% or more and thicken the slurry a bit.
The nice river rounded San Jacinto material sure doesn't need any media, most of it takes on a great polish on it's own and they don't seem to bruise much at all.
