local fossils in marble like substance. not the best polish but i still like the colors. so far the only silicate fossils ive seen close to home (1/2 days drive) I just wish that all local materials didn't have a crack in every piece... but its something i have to accept in almost any piece i make from local material.

Nice! Looks similar to the crinoidal limestone we have here in Texas. Try optical grade cerium on leather for a nicer polish. Just wet the pad enough to create a little drag and watch for the heat buildup which will cause those cracks..Mel

Favors rhodonite with a flare How Cool!!! Yeah it comes in many colors, some solid orange with the fossils. I might plan a trip to try and see the source... If it's not coming off a glacier. But I'd mostly be looking for nice fossils. No trail t o the source and it's not easy to get to by local standards... granted almost nothing local is easy to get
