I am in Tx for 10 days, probably won't have any time free cause its suppose to be nice and no rain. txrockhunter and HankRocks have you ever hounded Harmon Creek? I got some samples of the Petrified wood from there that is opalized. Some of it looks pretty nice and some palm also from there.

To be honest, I had to look it up and see that it feeds into the Trinity River just above Lake Livingston. Never collected there although I did collect petrified wood years ago below the Livingston Dam. It looks to drain some of the area that's in the Petrified Wood belt. The trick would be finding public access. I do see the Harmon Creek RV Park and Marina. There are some other open sandy/rocky? areas above the Marina but the trick is access.

I haven't heard of it either, Henry. Billy, if you find good material, take good pictures, write up a good report, and leave a little for us! You're the best !!! Too bad you won't have any free time, to come down and visit!

Just be careful down near water, the Trinity River was flowing pretty heavy earlier this year and may have left some deceptive mud flats. Of coarse the high flow should have resulted in new material being exposed and moved around.
