Finished my first batch of the year. It was a mixed batch of jaspers, agates, obsidian, feldspars, chert and gabbro. This particular mix yielded mixed results. All the Mohs 7 stuff fared well. Feldspars and gabbro turned out poor to good for the most part. The obsidian got scratched up so the shine was sub-par for what I usually get. Part one of the mixed batch is a little Ocean Jasper and a little Wild Horse Picture Jasper. Both came from The Gem Shop Inc. I missed this earlier, I’m glad it popped back to the top. That O.J. Is great. I’ve always loved that stuff, but have never bought any. One of these days I need to splurge on some. Yours turned out great.

tkvancil, when you ordered your wild horse, were you able to specify that you wanted particular sizes? I went to the website and it mentioned the size of the rough was .5-3 lbs. Not sure what sizes those equate to, but if I can avoid cutting as much as possible, that would be a good thing. I guess in my case, I'd be looking for stuff on the lower end of the scale, weightwise.

I go to the Gem Shop and pick my own rocks since it is within driving distance. The rough I chose was toward the smaller end or had fractures that were easy to take advantage of. At the time I bought this they had mostly larger pieces, bigger than a fist. A fist sized piece is about one pound give or take. I believe some one here once mentioned that they would work with you. Might be worth a call or e-mail.

Awesome tumbles and pix. I see that you're using Flickr as a host. How do you get them that big? The few tests that I have tried with Flickr are about a quarter of that size.
Gracias,
Gather no moss, Colin
