ABOUT JASON BADGLEY
When Jason was only 8 years old, his grandfather taught him how to cut & polish stones. This, and treks with his family and the Boy Scouts, developed his interest in nature, geology, lapidary, and photography. He’s hiked and collected rocks, throughout southern California, and beyond. He worked with a geologist in central Mexico. He located and collected samples, and mapped the sites, for a mining company that was looking for new sources of gold, silver and copper.
Jason belongs to several west coast lapidary societies, and has displayed his work numerous local & state wide club shows and fairs. He has won numerous awards for his workmanship, including, CFMS shows, and he won a “Best in Show” ribbon at the L.A. County fair. Photos of his lapidary work, and articles he has written, appear in several books and web sites. He has given numerous presentations on local collecting, to local rock & lapidary clubs.
Currently, he sells & trades specimens, worldwide, through the internet and other outlets. Having researched through old publications and geology maps he has located some of the best potential collecting sites, and he leads club and personal collecting trips. And Jason volunteers his time as a docent, for the Malibu Creek State Park.
