Having issues with the 45c. Not sure if it is me or the unit. To begin with the barrel would not align properly with the barrel guide all the way to one side, had to elongate the hole. The rubber sleeve on the drive shaft migrated to the bearing stopping the machine. Additionally the screw coming out of the inner lid is quite a bit off center causing the knurled nut to wobble quite a bit in the guide. Not sure if this is causing part of the problem Could move the rubber sleeve back into position, but migrated again. Being new to all of this I'm not sure if it is something I did, or the unit. Have e-mailed Shawn at the rock shed, and will call tomorrow

. the sleeve should not separate from the shaft. I would send it back to Lortone. if you purchased it new . there should be no problem. If It was purchased Used , Some one Screw Up. the machine can be repaired . Getting new parts will no be a problem

If it is a new unit, I would send it back jimaz . It kind of sounds like the rubber piece which covers the inside of the metal lid is not even in its thickness (or improperly seated on the lid's metal edge). The perfect circle has turned into an oval, which might cause the barrel to go off-round at the top and sit improperly on the roller - pushing the rubber sleeve and cause the binding to travel (I do not know if the roller sleeve is supposed to be glued in place). One of my QT66/12 6 lb barrels has a rubber lid piece that is constantly trying to pop off. Whenever I open the unit I have to stretch the rubber out to cover the metal lid again so it seats evenly inside the lip on the drum (Eventually I will tire of the event and order a new rubber piece). I have never paid attention to the centering of the threaded stud coming through the medal lid. I had to check on a six pound barrel this morning anyway so I looked at it and it was pretty much right on center. I'll check a few others later today.
I have six lortone bases and have never had a shaft cover move but mine are all much older models. I hope there quality has gone down hill.
I am sure Shawn will take care of it and get you rolling again. Chuck

I just checked my barrels. (2) six pounders and (4) 12 pounders and all of the threaded studs were dead center of the lid hole.

Received parts from Shawn, including a new lid, and rebuilt the unit. Unfortunately the issues continued. I sent Shawn a short video of the wobble and after talking we decided to go to Lortone with the issue. Heard back from them this morning and they agree that something is definitely wrong. They will be sending a new unit, but will be assembling and checking it out before shipping. Overall good service from everyone involved. It's just the delay in getting started with tumbles that's frustrated.

I certainly hope they field test your new one before shipping it. Chuck

They said they would assemble it and run it for 24 hours before shipping. Also enclosing shipping label so they can get the original unit back and figure out what is wrong with it.

Good luck with the replacement. The older I get the more I realize NOTHING IS EASY! I usually find success, but too often it takes hours, days or weeks!
