Hello! I got some of this from my wife as an early Christmas gift. At first I thought they were dyed but now I’m not so sure. Is this tumble-able? The receipt just said “gobi- candy agate from alashan Mongolia

Those are really cool. Now I want some. I would compare tumbling those to tumbling little carnelian agate nodules. They can be tumbled flawless but it is a lot of work. The other quick and easy option would be to vibe tumble them starting at stage two. That would leave the natural look but at least they would end up with the shiny wet look. This batch had 350 agates in it. Clean outs were a real pain. If I remember correctly there were over 100 in each pound when I was done. Chuck

Those look great too!
I think I will take your advice and start them off in the vibe. I do like them as is but would like to get a little shine on them.

Those look great too! I think I will take your advice and start them off in the vibe. I do like them as is but would like to get a little shine on them. Cleaning those little buggers between stages will be a chore if leaving them natural with pits and flaws that trap grit and polish. For that reason I usually cut the 1000 grit run out of my process. I go 120/220 for 2 days, 500 for 4 days and then polish for 2-3 days. Chuck

Thought I’d update- Wasn’t trying to get them smooth, just shiny! Actually they ended up a little too smooth than what I expected. Did- 220 for 2 days then another 2 days after a clean out 500 for 3 days Polish for 2 days I think they look great!
