need info on which polish is better for shells or stones with a 5 on the mohs scale. I use aluminum oxide now but have seen shells with much higher shine, am going to try tin oxide this batch. 1week 120 - 220 rough then 3 days 500 a o pre polish, then 3 days 1000 a o pre polish then 7 days of polish, hope the tin oxide will give higher shine. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks joejan hello, tried the tin oxide for 7 days very disappointed very dull shine will go back to a o polish I read somewhere that 7 days may be too long for polish, that after 3 or 4 days it actually starts to dull the shine anyone know or have any info on this. thank you joejan Read more: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/86148/polish#ixzz5eTxXoOLU

Never tumbled shells but I have cabbed some. Don't recall the method I used but I got a good polish on the cabs. Was probably diamond paste on leather as I haven't used polishing compounds in quite some time.
