Now that I'm getting a better shine I'm starting to enjoy the color and pattern combinations I see in my local finds. When I first started rockhounding I was very disappointed at the lack of exotic agates and jaspers in this area but I've come to appreciate the granite/feldspar/quartz (and whatever else is in them) combos and bonus there's an unlimited supply of them around here so rockhounding isn't going to get old anytime soon! I finally got brave enough to zoom in on a few of my favorites: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

That's exactly how I am, Glen. I love the stuff on here and sometimes a friend sends me some really cool stones, but mostly I'm starting to appreciate the rocks that I collect and work on. Sure, there's other stuff I would like to have but for now I'm satisfied with the things I find. And you're correct about the endless supply- I probably have more rocks than I will ever get through with in my lifetime. Anyway, nice stones.

Not all beautiful rocks have known names. I appreciate all beautiful rocks and you have some great ones.

Not all beautiful rocks have known names. I appreciate all beautiful rocks and you have some great ones. A while back I said I was giving up on granite because I was totally focused on shine and all the undercutting was too distracting. I think it was you that encouraged me not to give up on them so you are in part responsible for my renewed appreciation of them... so thank you for that!

I numbered the photos for easier reference. #3 is always by my favorite armchair and is my worry stone/fidget spinner or whatever you want to call it. Somehow it just feels right in the hand. I figure the burnishing it's getting from my fingers will eventually smooth out a couple of the imperfections

Some really nice depth and colors with this group. I like #5 the best. And #2 would be second for me. They are all nice. And good shine to them too.
