The major Winter storm in the upper Midwest was a big one.
About 1000 people near me were without electric for 8 hours. Mine stayed on without a flicker.
I did some pre-planning. Still had a tough time, breaking through the ice that was on top of my snow to get to barn this AM. My main door to house was damaged by hail and wind. Hail damage to my car.
Then, had to spend a lot of time chipping the ice/snow off my car this AM. Knocked a windshield wiper off in the process, but was able to get it back on. Tried to chip the 12" ice hump at end of driveway with no success. Applied some Safe Ice (melter for ice, that does not harm plants/animals or concrete) to the hump.
By the time I had to leave for work, the end of my auxiliary driveway was partially melted. Still had to drive through about 5" of ice/snow. Took about 20 minutes to get out of driveway. Lots of wheels spinning, so I had to back up and try again. Used the auxiliary barn driveway, as the slope is less than the main one. I also have about a 200 yard view of traffic on main road from there. Main road was bare of snow and ice.
I feel fortunate as one co-worker who lives in a larger town, was unable to get to work last night. She got her car stuck in the apartment parking lot. Another co-worker almost could not get out of his driveway today.
I saw where Billy is snowed in for a couple of days. How is everyone else doing?
Hopefully this will be the last of Winter for us in the Upper Midwest.

Gee, I really wish there was a button for - sorry. I hated to "like" it. But, you sound like you got it covered.

Don’t eat the brown stuff either. : ) With all the TX chemical plant fires lately, I'd say that's good advice.

Now that Winter is about ? over, the best tool I found for cleaning windshields is a 2 to 3 inch stainless Steel putty knife ! The edge can be resharpened on a flat wet stone and the blade is softer than the glass and will (NOT) scratch the glass. If you let the defroster run for a couple minutes a 1/4 in layer of ice peels off like wet cardboard. I might get some nasty feedback on this idea but have been using the putty knife for 19 years on the same vehicle and not a scratch can be seen !
If you travel with cats, the putty knife works wonders for picking up Hair balls the critters leave once in a while, also, spilled milkshakes and Ice Cream from the grand kids ! Push downward and forward at the same time and the mess will lift up and out of the carpet !

Hopefully were done for this year...... Al

My favorite ice scraper is a used gas card, lol. Use the snow brush first with defroster running. The gas card is very gentle and does not cause any damage to my very finicky windshield wipers, nor the windshield.
The gas card also works great for removing ice that is causing the car door not to open and for clearing ice around the edges of windows.
