You may or may not have seen my post in the off-topic area regarding the sudden loss of our beloved member Jason Strickland. Jason left behind his special needs daughter Sophia whom he loved and doted on as we all witnessed here on the board, and many of us sent him rocks and even money to support his goal to build a workshop for her and others. It's hard to imagine what Sophia must be going through but to help her, a fund raiser was created on Facebook with the goal of providing for her specific financial need of continuing her involvement in the Abilities Unlimited group. The fund raiser is on Facebook and I know this complicates it for some people here who don't do Facebook so I offer my help for any RTH member who wants to participate - you are welcome to send your donation to me using Paypal (friends and family please to avoid fee's) and I will forward the donation to the fund raiser in your name. Depending on how many folks jump on this offer I may do a combined donation on your behalf. For those who want to donate on their own please click this image or follow the link below. www.facebook.com/donate/1433349580123310/10156060186282063/

That is so sweet. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'll even brave FB for this worthy project. I feel so bad for Sophia.

Thank you for sharing. For those who are not on Facebook, her Mom said that Sophia feels that her Dad is helping God heal their dog who recently died.
I understand her thoughts due to my many years working with those who have cognitive challenges.
I was touched by Jason and Sophia. Was one of those here who helped them.
I currently have some property for sale. It should sell within a couple of months. As of now, I cannot provide any financial support, but once my property sells will provide $1000.00 to Abilities Unlimited.
I challenge others here to provide support to this cause. I will match donations up to an additional $1000.00. I had budgeted $5000.00 from property sale for donations. Would be honored to provide $2000.00 in support to Abilities Unlimited as a challenge to others.
So, do what you can to support Sophia, her friends and their future.

Thank you Beth this is very generous of you. For now I'd like everyone to feel that every little bit helps right now while decisions about Sophia's continued involvement in Abilities Unlimited and the Special Olympics are no doubt being thought about and discussed by her care givers. At this moment I'm only able to give about $20 which I will do on the fund raising page soon but I will try to give more if and when the opportunity arises.

Very thoughtful of you Tommy to post this and take care of donations for anyone not wanting to deal with Facebook. Not a big user of it myself but I'll dig out my login info for this. Al

I tried to make a donation earlier but ran into an error on the credit card screen and it didn't go through. If anyone runs into the same problem let me know.

Tommy, I still can't donate. Do you know of another way? Hi, I tried again this morning after disabling all my browser ad blockers (AdBlock+, Ghostery, DuckDuck) and it went through this time.

Thanks everyone who has participated in this even through sending good thoughts and prayers. I'll let the announcement run a little longer just in case anyone is thinking about it and wants to go ahead and jump in.
