Hello all. I retrieved this black rock from my late Grandmother's garden, along with some large pieces of agate and jaspers. I do know that she collected stuff from all over the States, but I believe this may have come from Northern California...but I am not certain. The only thing I can come up with, is flint versus obsidian??? The pictures do not show it, but it has a little more than a satin shine? Thank you. Henry The conchoidal fracturing and glassiness screams obsidian. Yes, Northern California just one place it is found.
