I have had two batches, unchecked in 80 SIC for over 3 weeks. One batch had been in 80 for 2 months prior, the other for a month in 80. These are mostly hard rocks, Agate, Jasper, Chalcedony. A few flats of the same. Being sick for 3 weeks prevented me from doing anything with the tumbles, other than making sure the rotary was still moving. That was easy to do. Am hoping that the 80 has broken down and now the rocks are essentially now running in another stage of grit. AKA jamesp style. Still too sick to do a clean out. All I can do is farm chores and work, then exhausted. My utility room where lapidary equipment is located is partially heated, but temps there are now in the low 50's. Should this situation raise any concerns? I have never left tumbler unattended for this long. Usually do weekly tumbler maintenance by adding oil to bearings and check progress. Thank you

Worse that could happen is that your 80 grit broke down before doing a complete job on the rocks and you will have to repeat stage 1. No big deal. Hope you are feeling better.
Have you ever mixed 35 and 80 SiC for extended tumbling runs?

If it is till turning and you hear the rocks, you are most likely OK. If you don't hear the rocks, give the barrel a shake to see if the slurry is too thick (mud). However, this is mostly an issue with soft rock. The grit will break down, so the rocks should be ready when you are feeling better.

They are still running, unchecked. I can hear the rocks moving.
Should be interesting when I open the barrels.
