I busted up another one of my kids bowling balls today. This time I made 3 cuts around the circumference of the ball as deep as the angle grinder would go. I then placed the chisel into the kerf slot and gave it a wack. repeat this process till it is all apart. This method made short work of it and was really easy. Start to finish less then 15 minutes. I did learn a lesson though. I did not want to make a huge mess in the garage so I did it out on my lawn like I would to down size a rock. I guess I was not thinking about all of the dust being produced being plastic dust. A nice large red area of plastic that will not decompose. I may have to shop vac that area of the grass. The neighbors will think I am nuts. rockjunquie RocksInNJThanks for looking Chuck

I gotta see this tumbled. Unfortunately it will not tumble. Even cabbing can be a challenge. The best results I get are when using our bowling ball resurfacing pads. Super soft pads in grits from 180 to 4000. Final polish is bowling ball polish of course. Chuck

Seems kind of unfair. First career was being tumbled into a bunch of heavy pieces of wood. Natural bowlerite cabochon:

I have gifted several of these pendants to the ladies that volunteer with our youth bowling program. Maybe next year I can make some a bit larger as ornaments. Chuck

Drummond Island RocksChuck, when I cut up the ball I found at a thrift store, I used my dad's horizontal metal band saw. Was a PITA to get clamped but once I did I slabbed it like a rock. After I got it broken down to manageable pieces like you've done here. To polish it I just gently shaped it on the cabber up to 600 then polished with plastic polish on a cotton buff.
