Rolling chunks of glass that weighs 40 to 70 grams is a recipe for disaster, similar to rolling two or more 300+ gram agates together as far as bruises are concerned. Two 50 gram chunks of glass hitting each other in a 70 to 85 percent filled barrel IS going to bruise unless you have thickish slurry thickener. Some may argue that smalls will prevent the bruises but eventually the two chunks of glass are going to hit each other and cause a bruise. Maybe the smalls would prevent damage but IMO not. More likely slurry protection from start to finish might get it done. These were run without smalls and without slurry thickener but a tall 85% barrel fill. About 20 pounds of them. They were not intended to be polished, just frosted like beach glass. Frosted flower pot decorations. Even with slurry protection the task of polishing is even a bigger challenge due to frosting/impacting in the vibe. Maybe a rotary would get the job done with a super thick slurry steps 1-2-3-4. Clay for step 1-2. Sugar for steps 3-4(lots of sugar for 20 pounds in this case). Wet: Dry:
