I'm so excited!!! I just ordered a Lortone 33B from Jatayu. $69.50 plus S&H. There's a $1.00 handling charge and the shipping is less than $10.00 so I think I got a pretty good price. Connie (the owner) answered the phone and was so very nice. She told me it would be shipped today (UPS ground) so I should have it by Monday. After gettting the one from ebay, I told my hubby I'm ordering a new one! I'll finally be on my way!!! Cher

Rose, did you remember to order the rest of the stuff that you'll need? Grit, pellets etc. So you'll be redey to roll on Monday.

I just got off the phone with The Rock Shed. Ordered another barrel for the small tumbler (still going to fix the old one but want one just for polish), a grit starter kid and an extra belt for the one I got on ebay. I figured if the dang barrel was bad, the belt is probably bad too. They are very nice people to deal with and told me he'd probably get it out today. Yuppers, by Monday I will be a tumblin' fool! it's all down the slippery slope from here, Cher.....you are gonna be hopelessly addicted just like the rest of us poor souls, deliriously happy in our shared madness and oblivious to the un-rockhound reality ...... hope your husband has patience and a sense of humour.
seriously, congratulations! i know you are going to love it!

LOL Yes, he has, except he'd like me to keep the kitchen counters open enough for him to set his lunchpail on. I'm going to set my tumblers up in the basement so he'll be happy for that part anyway.

Cher, has your tumbler from jatayu came yet? I was just thinking I might buy the 33B from them like you did, but I wanted to know how your transaction went first. -Jackson

Hi Jackson, It came today so it just 6 days from when I ordered it. It's already downstairs rollin'. Connie was very very nice and I wouldn't hesitate to order from there again. I didn't order online though, I called the order in (toll-free). Cher

I decided to follow in you footsteps cher, so I ordered a 33b from them also ;D ;D. $77.74 total including shipping/handling. That is by far the best price I have seen for a new one. Thanks for telling us about the jatayu place so that I could get this great deal! So now I will have my 3A that is already going with my very first tumble ever and soon I will have a 33B as well! -Jackson

You're very welcome Jackson. You going to be all ready like I was? A bit overanxious ;D I had my rocks all separated and ready to dump in the tumbler.

Well I already have a tumler model 3A going with some rocks I found at work. I think they are most likely some quartz and random agates. They have been in course about a week now and I can't wait to see how they will have changed. We are both new so I bet these other experienced people see us a laugh at how we are so anxious ;D ;D. I just need more barrels and more tumblers so I can tumble tumble and tumble some more!!! ;D ;D I didnt want to use my good rocks that I got at the rockshed yet, so I used the work rocks first. Just in case I mess them up somehow. The rocks I got at the rockshed are sodalite, blue jasper, pet. wood, and prairie agate (1 lb of each)

Oh yeah, and a few days ago, my mom went over visit my grandpa and grandma (her parents) and told them about how I was beginning to be a rock tumbler. My grandpa was a forest ranger for the longest time over here in Oregon and picked up a few rocks in his travels. He gave them to my mom to give to me. I got a piece of pet. wood that weighs 4.14 lbs and is 6 x 4.5 x 3.5 inches (length, width, height). There was also this jar full of what I think is different agates, quartz, and more smaller pieces of pet. wood. I really like the big chunk of pet. wood though, and I keep thinking how neat of slabs I bet it would make if only I had a saw.... -Jackson

how very sweet of your grandpa to share his treasures with you. you'll have to give him back some of it after it's tumbled and polished. or make him something special like a big paper weight.

That's really cool Jackson, nice that you can have something really special after you get them polished. [glow=red,2,300]Cher[/glow]

Jackson, how wonderful you can carry on a family tradition! I'm doing some pet wood now, and it's harder than I expected. You might want to run it with agate or somethng similar in hardness. I want mine to be natural, not too smooth, but finished out smooth and polished it's incredible! Good luck, keep us posted, cookie

Well I wouldn't really say its a family tradition, unless I am starting it.... It might be a while before I get anything done. Right now I only have a lortone 3A, but I'm working on getting some more tumblers going here. I have a 33B coming in the mail, so that will help. But still I won't rush things. I have read from you guys that the patience really pays off, so I am going to do every step as long as I should. After all, once they're done, the rocks stay that way forever, so might as well give them a few extra days or weeks to make them look nicer. -Jackson
