I apologize folks, it's an unfortunate and annoying position to be in. As a middle of the road guy with strong belief in liberty, I despise censorship and I don't normally don't err on the side of caution (fear?) in letting a thread play out. These are very strange days indeed that we live in and my hand has effectively been forced to delete the c-word topic from view by one side getting personal and voicing their willingness to continue with guns blazing to the point where moderation is required.
Going forward the c-word threads have to be off limits on the entire forum to protect our entire forum from being shut down. This doesn't mean day to day discussions cannot be had if a member experiences the c-word as a life event, but the deep diving debates on the facts and fictions of the subject are done.
I posted this in the thread but it's worth repeating here the Proboards forum software company official position as it stands:
As a side note, I have an inquiry in with Proboards to determine if having said discussions behind a wall of voluntary group membership (The Cave board) so that they are not visible to the unregistered general public will lessen the risk to our forum but I'm not highly optimistic about receiving a positive response back at this time. All three of the main c-word threads have been archived but preserved pending the response I receive from them.
Edited to add: If anyone wants to specifically discuss this action taken by me (not the topic), please PM me.
