It's done! Last year, I asked for some advice on my project of tumbling rocks for a whole year. I ended up tumbling two barrels, one with silicon carbide and the other with aluminum oxide. I tried to keep all the other variables the same as much as possible. The results really show the difference between silicon carbide and aluminum oxide. They behaved very differently, just the way they were supposed to. Thanks for all the advice you gave me.

Holy Crap! I can't believe it's already been a year! I thought about this project not that long ago and wondered where you were at with it. Now I know! LOL
That was an awesome reveal video. I love the fact you were "nervous" opening the barrel for the first time. Pretty revealing results with that tumble...

I really wasn't sure what to expect. I haven't been that excited to open a barrel in a long time.

Awesome Rob! Your production on the videos has skyrocketed and you started off far ahead of most. If you guys haven't seen his recent #shorts you are missing out.
www.youtube.com/c/MichiganRocks/videosWay, way more patient than I could ever be, definitely would have peaked at some point.

Loved the video and also loved what you did during the months of the year. June and July were my favorites. Congrats on the new addition!

Chad. I don't really see the improvement in my videos myself. I think it's sort of like people don't see themselves aging. It's nice to hear that I'm improving.

Great video, as always! My family enjoys your videos and we have learned alot from you. On your beach rock hunting videos, my 5 year old daughter keeps saying "don't throw that rock out, I like that rock." Lol. Looks like we are headed to a beach sometime soon. Thanks from Wyoming!

Tell your daughter that I can only tumble so many rocks. I don't like to be greedy and take more than I can use. Hopefully someone else will find the nice ones I leave behind.

Great vid as usual! So doesn't this put into the question the theory that polishing involves the same essential abrasive action as earlier stages? That is, if polishing is just using finer and finer grit, one might have expected the SiC to give the better shine here since it actually is getting smaller and smaller and still abrading. The AO, OTOH, is less brittle and thus should be rounding and therefore losing its abrasive ability over the year. Yet the AO gave the shine.

Really informative and entertaining video. I am as amazed by how neat your work area is as the great results with your tumbles.

If you asked me to give a detailed explanation of why, I don't think I'd do a very well.

Great comparison Rob. I would have expected both batches to have polished and was surprised that the silicon carbide didn't get a shine. Loved the monthly progression and now I know why your RTH name is "Jugglerguy"!

I could only find a listing for 55 lbs. when I just looked. www.ebay.com/itm/113933254174?hash=item1a86f37e1e:g:ENMAAOxyYSdTDZ5X
