There is no common thread that is 19 TPI, there is a 1/4-20, 1/2-20, 5/8-18, and 9/16-18, and no metric thread {1.33mm pitch} falls into that range either. Start by measuring the diameter of the threaded rod. Likely it is not metric, I would think either 1/2 or 5/8 dia. If you shave the split line you also shave the guide hole diameter, will that work then?

I didn't know you are from Australia, makes the whole subject different. If it works for you, and I know you folks graduated to the modern era and went metric some time ago unlike the US, go for it.

Question, what is your idea of size of a "small tumbler"? It looks to me you are trying to spend a bunch of $ for parts that really aren't necessary. V belts have worked fine for many years for thousands of people. Any friction caused heat with a small tumbler is likely too small to measure, and if it is set up right there is virtualy no slippage. For a small tumbler use 3L {3/8" wide} belts and pulleys instead of 4L {1/2"}, less power loss, and a more flexable belt. Another likely over expense would be the shaft material, metric here is way higher than inch measure, and the link you put up shows all metric puulley bores, the 10mm being a minimum size for even a small machine. Cost everything out with your printer parts idea, then with v belts, pulleys and inch measure shafting and bearings, then please do come back here with your result, I'd like to know.

I've had tinnitus for too many years, sounds to me like a million crickets in a high mountain meadow. One odd thing about it; one generally very peaceful and quiet place we hunt rocks I hear what sounds like a very big powerful tractor pulling hard, and at a fair distance away, like it's pulling a seven bottom plow set. At this location it's not possible, has to be in my head. What I've learned about tinnitus there is an endless array of sounds heard by different people, depends on the individual.

That's a really nice well thought out saw. Is the drive motor and black table salvage from a treadmill?

I wonder what the car insurance companies think of these things and how much they charge, given the apparent risk involved.

I saw a pickup pulling a trailer with a car on it come to a stop across the road from where I was. Smoke was trailing pretty heavily out of the hauled car. A guy bailed out of the pickup, said "I'll get it", grabbed a splitting maul from the pickup bed, opened the hood on the car and bashed the battery. "O.K. now" he said to the passenger, got back in the pickup and drove away.

Why is it you wouldn't make another top frame that way? I think it's a good way to build one, and it looks like a fine job of it.

It's a nice craft show just looking at the painted rocks. Wish we lived closer, we would be there. Good luck with your sale.

Crude to break in, but I use the green d-con bait blocks, we had a big rat problem over a large area a few years ago, and fixed it. Everyone around got in on it. I have a place to put them out, not in the supplied bait station, the rats and mice can get there but no one else. I get it at Walmart.

I don't like to rain on someone elses parade, but the first edge shot he showed and talked of 40-45 degree angle, my lifes work doing machine work told me he is guessing at the angle and is way off. I was told years ago to cut rainbow obsidian at 31-33 degrees from parallel with the layers. I paused the video at 5:25 minutes and read 24 degrees with my protractor held to the rock, and the picture on full screen. At 5:49 I read 40-42 degrees,he's talking greater than 45, and at 8:57 27 degrees. Someone wants to check me, please do. The 31-33 angle off of parallel with the layers I was told, and I do, is supposed to show the maximum number of layers without stretching them out and reducing the number of layers showing, think fanning a deck of cards. This idea is a given that the color layers are fairly uniform in thickness, some are, some are not, the ones in the video look pretty good to me.

nursetumbler, another aspect of best not to try separating air soft pellets by color; after a run they will all be the same color as your slurry. Yes, I forgot to mention that earlier.

nursetumbler, I don't think you will find enough color changes in a batch of the pellets to help, I separate the pellets from each grit run in sandwich bags. Beats sitting there trying to organize by color with a pair of tweezers.

nursetumbler, I get the camo {short for camouflage} colored plastic pellets at our local Walmart, likely available online too. As the name suggests camo color is a variety of colors in itself. The camo colored are the only ones I have found with a specific gravity greater than one, therefore they tend to sink rather than float in water. Is this a valuable thing to have the pellets tend to sink rather than float, I have no idea, but it sounds good within the great gray vacuum between my ears.

Outstanding scenery, nice rock finds, and I'm not the only person who takes pictures of old dead trees. Thanks for the great day out.
