aside: This thread needs to go back where it was (FOR NOW) so folks see it. Or, maybe the thread can be duplicated to be in both sections. Thanks for the input - you make some great points. This particular thread was created for the specific purpose of having staff move it into the tutorials. Rob said he also posted the video in his other crazylace thread and asked if we wanted this as a stand-alone tutorial, and of course I jumped at it. I'll let him decide if he thinks it should stand over there for a while given that the video is posted there already. It doesn't matter to me, Tommy. I felt kind of funny posting this twice, but it had to be done to make it better for the tutorials section. It's fine with me if we leave it in the tumbling area for a while and move it in a week or so.

I was bored with 'em, but after watching your video, realize that I kinda miss it. I am down to three tumblers running, BUT ... Haven't checked them in a LONG time. Two of them have been running untouched since February 2018 (really, 14 months - they are rather dusty!), and the third I last checked on October 7th - 6 months ago. *snicker* Just didn't care about tumbling anymore. I think taking a year off from tumbling has given me a nice break and it may be time to get some fresh material rolling. If I can find any rocks around here! Enjoyed the video, Great job putting it together. The time involved is appreciated. Nice batch of lace BTW... And thank you for the inspiration. Holy crap! I couldn't ask for a better return on my video than this. I brought Bob back from the dead! Seriously, I'm thrilled that you liked it. I have been trying hard to make videos that are to the point and I've been thinking that they're way too long. I have a hard time balancing my desire to be thorough with not wasting people's time. Now I know that not everyone thinks I went on too long. Thanks Bob, I needed this.

This is a video that might be useful to people new to tumbling. It attempts to answer many common questions that come up on this forum, especially from beginners. The tumbling method uses both a rotary and vibratory tumbler. Most people start with just a rotary tumbler, but the most misunderstood step of rotary tumbling is the first one. This video explains that first step in depth (maybe too much depth!).

How cool. As I started looking at these rocks, for some reason I envisioned the clouds in "The Beattles, Yellow Submarine" art. At least they look like clouds to me. I haven't researched this Crazy Lace material. I wonder if you have to go to Mexico only to get it. Hmm. Thanks for sharing your tumbling technique. Subbed! I finally managed to follow your Vibratory tumbling instructions properly this time. Just cleaning off the rocks now, but I think this has produced my best rocks to date. Thank you. [edit] I was trying to pick a favorite, and I can't . I like them all. I've never been to Mexico, so you don't have to go there to get it. No need to pick a favorite, you can like them all. I'm looking forward to seeing the latest batch.

The orby one is great. I started to make a list of my favorites but there were too many to list. A bunch of great ones. Did all of your rough survive the tumble? I usually have a bunch that don't make the cut with Mexican lace agate. Edit: Forgot to mention that I think these photos are great too. Chuck I still have a bunch rolling. I was not all that impressed with the rough. I thought I just got bad stuff. Obviously there are some really good rocks, but there were a lot of porous areas, holes, plain rock, etc. Hopefully I get a couple more batches out of it.

This is my latest tumble. I love crazy lace agate and I don't treat myself to commercially purchased rocks very often, so this is a treat for me. I also made a video of how I tumbled these. I started the video over two months ago when I was first starting to get serious about my YouTube channel. The video ended up too long, but it has a lot of details about how I do things. Newbies might find it helpful. Yeah, that ball bearing notice has been there at least since I bought my Lot-O about seven years ago. I have an A/O Smith motor too.

I’m still loving these. Number 4 is different than all the others. I keep being surprised by the variety of colors too.

There's a product on the market called Permethrin and its a game changer - big time. Apparently its been around for quite a while but I just discovered it this past summer – a year too late. If I had known about this stuff two years ago I could have avoided Lyme disease. I am a fly fishing guide and am always outside so this stuff is a Godsend. Its a derivative of the chrysanthemum flower and once dry is 100% non-toxic. You apply it to your outdoor clothes, let it air dry and it remains effective for 42 day or 6 clothes washings, whichever comes first. It won't protect your skin, but ticks usually get on your clothes before finding your skin and that = dead tick! Works on any annoying insect that comes in contact with your clothes. Thank you for posting this. You make it look so easy! Your videos keep getting better, too. FWIW- I prefer asymmetrical hearts. I wasn’t sure if I was improving. I’m glad you think so. I’ll keep practicing! I should hit 1000 subscribers today or tomorrow, so the money should start pouring in. Pretty soon I’ll be too popular and rich to associate with you guys.
