They gave a permit to kill 25 birds one time out of how many tens of thousands, They don't care. The best way to get rid of them is strand a couple coon on each island while they are nesting.

If he is bating, it is no wonder he isn't catching fish. When I fish, I am usually baiting. You're in Fairbault? Been through there many times on our way to visit family in Mankato-Always wanted to fish Cannon Lake Ah yes, the dead sea. Cormorants have taken their toll.

I am going to have to take a look at what vaca days are open in conjunction with my days off. If I can do it, I might have to take a road trip. Fair warning to slow poke people who are "thinking about it".

There is absolutely no reason why you have to go away. Just because you can't do projects any more does not mean that you should leave the forum. You have friends here who care about you. I think you should stick around and become even more active. Lots of new people could use your guidance.

When you do, drain it into a bucket with a lid and put it away where it will be left unmolested for a few months. If you can secure the bucket at an angle, the crud will fall down to the edge and be easier to pour into another container when it is settled out. Then when you get as much out as you feel is prudent, put it back until you clean out again. Then repeat.
One word of caution. DO NOT store oil in a milk jug. It will turn brittle and you will be displeased. If it breaks where it is the wife's inconvenience, you may be dead.

None of it is any where near that bright. It is like GR said. After all of these years it still smells like a vast pine forest.
Maybe I will have to try to remember to take a 1/2 lb or so and put it on auction.

meviva Could I see the rough exterior of the first one? I have hounded something similar but less awesome. Here is the exterior and another of a cut side. The markings are actually a light green color which didn't show in the first pic very well. Andrea We have that all over here. It looks great after the 1st stage in the tumbler. I don't think I have finished any yet.

#5 looks like the agate from the forest east of Payson where I wrecked my truck.

He is using way too big of a chisel to exploit those small cracks. I use tiny chisels to get into the cracks and then I move up to the bigger ones. You would be surprised at how big of a chunk you can break loose with a small chisel. Also, what he is showing is easy work. Try chiseling agates out of rhyolite and you will see hard work.

I think you should try an experiment. Naturally you would use a low value item. We are big on experimenting here. I think that a large rotary with lots of buffer would be best. Slower rotation I suspect would be best.

I just cleaned then out. They looked pretty good. I put them back in with 600. Skipped the 2nd stage. I'll just let them roll for a few days and see how it looks.

I put some AZ pet wood in a tumbler this past winter with a little polish and let it go for a few weeks. It came out polished and still shaped like it went in. Kind of neat, but I like the more conventional method better. I use one of those stupidly expensive yellow tumblers from off of Ebay with the PVC barrel to tumble stage one. The barrel wore out years ago, so I load 3lb barrels and use it for them. It rolls faster than a thumler, so it processes much faster. Generally, I have the barrels rolling for 2 days and they are ready to go to the next stage. I do lots and lots of stage one and then when I run out of stuff to run, I use the vibe for the rest of the stages.
By the way, don't buy those yellow tumblers from Ebay, the guy is a real asshole and his warranty is junk. You can't comply with the requirements to keep the warranty. The bearings are very poor quality and it is made to be a real PitA to adapt it to take good ones.
