We go straight up hill past ranger station to massive outcrop. That is to the left on opposite shore in your picture. Nice hounding!

Great finds, what are your plans for them? Possibly a polished specimen. Not really sure. Here are a few more from yesterday-

The poppies are sprouting! Found a bunch and a few fist sized specimens. As Mel mentioned the variety is there. If you can't see the poppies they are probably micro poppies. Did a close-up of a yellow rock with poppies of the same color. Biguns not so biguns flower type unusual color combo another flower type other side of double fist sized specimen(my favorite and it has micro poppies as well. bad pic of micro yellow on yellow

Found a couple unusual ones this morning- The dark red jasper often have the micro poppies, the last rock is unusual as well as ugly.

If you are not set up for tumbling you can ship me that bullseye piece and I'll tumble it and ship it back to you. No fee just want to see it tumbled Chuck Have a tumbler, just lazy. I'll get to some tumbling soon and post the results. That type of poppy is fairly common where I hike, not with that particular chocolate color though. Bob

Ditto what Roland said. Are you tumbling or cabbing this stuff? Just collecting. Sometimes those big poppy eyes are all that are showing in the dirt. Judging by the sound of the rain now, should be many poppy eyes looking for me today! Bob

First picture rock in the bottom row center. How big is that one? Sure looks like it could make a beautiful cab. Is the stuff your getting pretty solid or fractured like morgan hill? Chuck This is Morgan Hill, so yes fractures. Some are falling apart some are solid. That rock is very solid. The rock above appears highly fractured but fractures are filled. The "softball size" rock is highly fractured. Some of my favorite specimens are tortured by time but still intrigue me. If I see a poppy on the rock I'm collecting it!

Wow, those are awesome. In what part of the world does one find rocks like that? California landscape rocks. Should be some nice ones out there that the rain will uncover.
