Believe he just had a local club up there around the middle of July. Search rockhounds.com i think. It was members of the Mariposa gem and mineral club on a post at lapidaryforum. They went up with Dr T and the guy says he got over 50lbs of poppy jasper, mid July 2016, so still available!

Anderson reservoir- agate on left appears more blue/green than photo shows. Rock on right is what the local Indians used for beads. These outcrops are on right side of dam, straight uphill an over to lake shore.

I just noticed the micro poppies with quartz eyes in the first pic are visible if you have excellent vision Look at the bottom right rock where it meets the left rock and the micro poppies are just above where rocks touch and are in yellow/green background with white centers.

Nice rocks. The last time I drove through there, the beach was covered with elephant seals. I've seen the elephant seals north closer to Hearst Castle. Impressive animals!! We were just north of Moonstone beach and could see many people on that beach. Almost every stone had been turned over and cart prints, footprints everywhere around where we collected. The locals can get there earlier than me! My plan is to obtain permission to collect upstream, in the fall.

Those are so colorful! Slice 'em up! Do you have any pictures of the beach? Didn't have my camera with me. I'll be doing many beaches this summer and will make sure to get some beach pics!

If those are all healed fracture lines-this stone has been through hell and back!!! Here's a solid piece with many healed fractures and it's actually poppy jasper. Perhaps you can see the micro poppies in a line on the left? I have to use my eyelupe.

Are you sure that isn't an organ from some large animal? Looks like you could slice and fry it. My thoughts exactly! Me too! I looked for an umbilical cord.

Wonder what this is? It's very heavy for size.

Stopped by beach at San Simeon on way home today to see about some pj. Found more than I could carry in about half an hour (poppy jasper and colorful garden jasper). Here are some with poppies. bottom right yellow rock fooled me and is not poppy j:)

Maybe there will be an earthquake and those will roll down here to me? Nice collection. Envy reigns supreme! There will be earthquakes where we live! You can see the evidence on that poppy sphere.
