*bump* I was looking through the birthday list today and stumbled on this solid gold vintage thread. These days we think of tumbling flats as something that should be left to the vibe machines but this gentleman was banging out some REALLY nice looking pieces. Terry664 you last stopped by in 2014 but happy birthday and I hope you're still enjoying the arts and doing well. I fixed the photos in this thread and one other thread I found (butterflies) but SO many of your photos are lost to the damage that PhotoBucket did to the entire internet. If you're still getting notifications from the forum please stop in and say hello and lets talk about how you accomplished these creations.

We got my son a DeWalt 16" cordless for a housewarming gift and he loves it. Says it's an absolute beast.

I agree it's some kind of jasper based on what I can test right now. No clue on where it was collected. My first thought was tiger tail based on the colors but I think that has chatoyancy?

jamesp ! Glad you are OK brother. That could have gone a lot lot worse Thanks Tommy and you are so right. You see why I keep looking in mirror to verify survival ! You could have the missus pinch you to see if you're still here. I suspect that after what you've been up to that pinch might leave quite a mark . Do your friends a favor and please install a roll cage on that beast before you ride her again...

I'm still following along here. What a really interesting material you have there. You might have already answered this but when you do the scratch test are the brown areas are as hard as the blue or do they scratch?

Thanks Tommy, I only got lucky that the voids in the slag that opened up, only added to the moons appearance, any other shape & it would have been in the scrap bin. Thats right! Two in a row. For some reason I was thinking there had been another one in between. Congrats! I don't remember us having a back to back winner before - I'll have to check.

liveoak Patty congratulations on another win on heels of your first win, this time with your beautiful moon creation. I can't even imagine the difficulty on that one in keeping it together and thin while managing a large inside curve.

... all of the members that Eva and I together have met in person - probably over 30 at this point? Lasting friendships have been built too even though we don't get to see each other frequently. After writing this earlier it got me curious and I started a list of RTH members that we have met in person. As of right now my count is 35 36 39 and I know I'm missing a few that I met in passing especially at Tony's BBQ Quartzsite. I thought about tagging them all but that started feeling a bit creepy hahaha

Trying not to hijack, but I'm wondering if you still keep fish. I have 4 planted aquariums including a 125 gallon and a 3000 gallon + koi pond No - sadly that 'season' in my life came to a crushing end - I will spare you the details. I'd love to see your tanks and fish if you feel like showing them off in a separate thread.

Mariposite? Depends on where you were of course. There are several collection locations along hwy 49 north of Mariposa - and then just north of that are the jade deposits where the Merced river meets Lake McClure.
