My buddy Frank and I will be there from Sat. April 18 thru Friday Apr 24. We're doing 2 days at Walker, two days at Singleton, Needle Peak and either Larremore or Stillwell on our "free" days. Can't explain the use of the term "free", as we're either paying to rockhound or rockhounding roadside. I guess unscheduled would be the better term. We might need a day off somewhere in there. Getting old sucks! I've tossed around the idea of Toyah,TX roadside collecting, but have yet to see anything from there that caught my attention. It's in all the books as an underappreciated site, but where's the rocks?
This will be my first trip to Texas. I've read all the posts I could find, studied the locations on Google Earth, emailed back and forth with Teri. My gear is already packed. Tuning up the car....lololol

I have done some cabs with cracks, but they make me wince, too. Some materials are just always fractured, and some fractures are not noticeable in some stones. I would say I approach it on a stone-by-stone basis but try to not cut fractured material if possible.

Anybody ever tried that little motel in Brenda....might be a forgotten option if it's still there and liveable...

Very nice!!! I'm a big fan of amethyst sage and that's a good one. Love the dragon skin and the rest, too. Nice cheetah agate.

They came out really nice. Love the agate. The colors are more Agua Nueva than Laguna, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be either one.
