Thank you for the welcoming!! I have not been to Johnsons - I found them on the web, gave their number but no address; I'll have to make it out there on the next trip out to Livingston. We were just out there on Monday It's not either or, it's rocks

New to tumbling and rocks. Hubby gave me a gift of rough emeralds for Christmas, so I had to buy the tumbler to be able to make myself some jewelry. So now I am tumbling and using the stones to make and repair jewelry with. Having fun doing this, I had been making and repairing costume jewelry for a while and this just opens up a whole other can of worms for creativity. So much so that I am gathering some equipment to begin cutting and hopefully cabbing soon. My biggest problem is identifying types of stones. I have the S&S Rocks & Minerals (too techy for a beginner); I am expecting a copy of the Other Rocks & Minerals which I hope will be a little more beginner friendly. Science and Math were not my favorite subjects in school. Anyhow, glad to have found this board, I live in a rural area so clubs and meetings are not really possible-plus, I don't think there is anybody out here that does this. Thanks for being here, Rocksforbrains.
