In need of a piece of flourite for a customer. Large enough that it by itself would fit in a large flat rate box.
For color blue, ideally darkest sodalite color blue if possible. can be rainbow.
Smaller pieces to add In may be useful.
Thanks,
Glenn

FYI. For those not on Facebook following his business, Glenn had a major theft this year. While he was constructing his new lapidary space. Glenn also coordinated the FCC contest on RTH for several years. He is an amazing lapidary artist, offering memorial paw etchings in rocks for 4 legged family members and custom works. I had him do a Christmas tree with an opening for a photo. This was for my Grandchild's first Christmas. It was beyond my expectations. Glenn really deserves some love from RTH members. Thanks fernwood, late to my own party lol. Have lots of time now since my last job laid me off as I'm not allowed to get fully vaxed since the first one sent me to the hospital. (They say it's because they lost the ability to train me and garentee its not for the Vax stats) Trying to keep busy though catching up on some cab work that I've put off for a year or so? All going to be finished within the next couple days and break into some new materials! As AR as the burglary went, at the time of loss about $93.5k valuables loss and about 5k damages. Current value of the loss with today's pricing would be well over 200k. Combine that with the crazy lumber prices and my shop idea went out the window. Would have been a public shop that people could rent out at a very reasonable price. Luckily a couple people donated on my go fund me campaign and I had a generous local customer and combined with my earnings was able to pickup an old 10x12 hay barn for $3k moved to my spot to be storage for rocks and things, also got a lot of old metal shelving for the cost 1/2 a new single unit. Haven't made a dent and put up 6 units already, just need shelves in 4 units. This greatly freed up space so now my little 8x8 cutting room can be heated and once I get more oil in soon, I can use it more and open it to anyone that wants to use it. Feels nice to run the saw after setting for 3 years or so. Along with freeing up space in that area I was also able to get my storage bus emptied and can finally transform it into the rockhounding RV. I got almost everything I need to convert for free, hopefully come summer I can get it on the road. I'll be able to take up to 8 passengers. Slowly chipping away at my plan, but still a long ways off for my master plan to be feasible.. every room in my house I've got rocks and is a workbench with the few tools I can actually use. Shop plan now is tentatively rescheduled for min 5 years out since I need to recover from the theft (most of that was shop fund). Realistically the shop goal is 7 to 10 years out. This is if the prices stop increasing. And presuming I get another decent job more then 15/hr... or somehow be self employed at a monthly rate I need to get the goals. That sums up since my last login just about. Mostly bad news but minor wins make it easier. Just need to keep living beans and rice budget and I'll get a shop some day! Least if it's in the Lord's plan.

Thanks all, getting a house has been a dream for a long time and a shop which will be nice once I can get it.
Been doing some monthly rock work ever since I started making engravings which helps to recover some of my equipment purchases lol.
Stay tuned on my Facebook (personal and lapidary) to see progress of things!

No one heard from me for a while so thought I'd break the news that I finally bought a place of my own.... in process of moving. Surprisingly easy to get a mortgage considering my job isn't much to speak of (max 15 work days a month limit at low wage). Luckilly I know how to be frugal and make sacrifices to make it happen. Well with the property, I'm attempting to build the first dedicated gem shop in the area. I'm hoping to get the shell up by winter but I think as I believe I ha e the budget for that. But that might be abput it. Would be really nice to have it slightly heated in winter to 50 degrees or so in winter when its 20 below.... would be hard to cut rocks at that temp but I'd somehow figure a way. I'm trying all possible ways to raise funds, ideally by crafting something or selling stuff. You can see a lot of what I do on my Facebook or website Alaskan Lapidary. Alternitivily should anyone like to donate I did create a fund account for the first time ever since the community benefits from this. www.gofundme.com/f/build-a-gem-shop-for-my-startup-alaskan-lapidary?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1&fbclid=IwAR3DA87Kx2XS10BqlHiTUt3jocesLoZ7JWsZ9thjZ4CdXGS3dwMoNcMGQsk

I tumble big stuff like that all the time and some larger as I have a larger barrel now. As you seen they take a long time to tumble but helps break up the smalls fast. It will polish nice but I run my polish thick like a past rather then the standard polish amount.

I have an older style lortone c40. Can't find a replacement barrel for it to use for polish only.
Will a Covington one match up?
Send some links if you know where to get one for a good price, especially wholesale price.

Water fed angle grinder, Amazon special. How do you plan on holding the slabs in place. Without some way of fixing them in place the grinder will launch them. I put the slab on a block of wood, the friction pressure keeps it in place. My grinder is variable speed to about 6000 from do it's not too fast to do that.

I just received an electric wax melt pot. Was wondering if it would work as a dop pot? Someone through it would be helpful for the lotion bars I make, but it is too small for that. It holds maybe 3/4 Cup of melted wax. I thought I read somewhere here that it has been tried, but did not get hot enough. Cannot find that thread. Thanks. Yes, I got one locally used for $20. It was wax melt used at nail salon. Has variable temperature works great. Also an old timers method my dropping sticks have screw heads for the ends. I hardly ever dip but for earrings I must.

Old Sears (Star Diamond) 10" with Hot Dog blade leaves a nice shine on anything other than really soft material. HP 10" with a 303 does the same. Both are gravity feed with a relatively slow feed rate. zarguy probably nailed it there.
Antique 10" with Hot Dog does not "polish" same types of rough - it's used for hand feeding inconveniently shaped rough using a fence. Lot faster feed rate.
18" 301 (different blade design) yields nice smooth slabs, but not a "polished" look at 18"/hr feed rate.
Yeah I know a slower feed rate should help it, I kind of wonder if a glass blade will be better with continuous rim since the grit is finer?

My 14 inch MK301 doesn't leave any saw marks. The 16 inch old Covington blade did and some slabs I buy have them. Not quite saw marks but more so an actual shine after cutting

a friends 16" saw blade leaves an 800 to 1600 grit polished look, he isn't sure of the blade other then its an old MK series.
Anyone else know of a blade that does this?

Should go through in a large flat rate. And I can add some rocks to sweeten the pot. $250 shipped obo. I'd rather not part it out since it's unlikely someone would buy just the hood and goggles. Forgot to mention the blade cardboard box does not fit
