It's only 30 minutes from the airport, if you ever get the opportunity....

Here are a couple new photos...... Discovered a new Gravel Bed! It appears to be bigger than the last one. Only problem is, the days are getting shorter, so you can't hunt more than an hour or so after work!Take a day off! or maybe a week... I'm working on it! The temps are starting to become manageable, so I will schedule something soon. If anyone would like to join me, drop me a line!

I will pay to get a few of them back, just so I can see what good is supposed to look like. I will send some extras, for your inventory. Many of them are somewhat rounded, but some of them need to be opened. I have cut a bunch of them, so I can send some of those as well.
Just let me know if you are interested.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Thank you! I love the stuff I am finding, but those Gravel Bars are way too convenient! I keep finding better stuff and end up taking rocks out of the tumbler prematurely, to put the new better stuff in! My clean-outs are exciting, but I can't move past the rough stage. I guess if I stopped going to the gravel bars, I would eventually run out of new material......(NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!) So, when I grow up, I will have enough equipment to tumble & finish everything I am finding. In the mean time, I will eye your finished rocks and those that post photos of the rocks, that I have sent out. Thank you for sharing!!!

Those are beautiful! I have always thought of polishing, as getting every surface. I really appreciate your posts.....they have changed my outlook and will prevent me from ruining pieces, to polish the whole thing!

Ed, thank you for the kind words! Maybe your rocks were blessed by the Pope, before they got to Alabama!
Hope you enjoy!
Jeremy
FYI....If anyone is interested in a package, send me a PM.

I have 3 MFR Boxes, weighing over 24 lbs each, that I will will sell or trade. This is from the San Jacinto River Gravel, near Houston. This link is to an earlier thread, with some of the gravel that I had started tumbling. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/72158/jacinto-river-gravel-heavy-pics . If anyone has an abundance of course grit and wants to work a trade, or $46 a box (includes Freight). If you want one, send me a PM with preference on Box 1, 2, or 3. It will be 1st come 1st serve. I can put more together, if needed. Thanks for looking! Jeremy Box#1 Box #2 Box #3

Thank you very much, Paul! You are extremely generous, to send local material, back to Houston!!!! I will make sure to reciprocate.
Don't forget to send photos, of finished products!
Also, I still have plenty of material, if anyone else wants some.
Thanks again, Jeremy

Alright, I've sent out the first 2, MFR boxes. Both weighed 24+ lbs, but only taking Labor money for 22lbs @ $1.50 / lb ($33) plus freight @ $12.90 = $45.90 total. If you want a box, send me a PM and we'll go from there.

Great advice, from CaptBob. I go through 4 times the amount of 60-80 grit, because I am constantly taking rocks out of the mix. Either they are not keeping pace, with the rest of the rocks, or they are not turning out like expected.
As for the saw....I haven't graduated to a real saw. I cut everything with a $79 tile saw, then tumble it, to smooth out saw marks. Go slow and Learn how to dress the blade, because most of these rocks clog up a diamond blade, quickly. I make 5-6 passes with a 1" thick piece of sandstone paver. It exposes new diamonds, with very little effort and it's cheap!
More than anything else, Have Fun!

Maybe you could simply make sure the box is loaded favorably in regards to type of rock desired by the buyer...in other words, a mix but with the bulk of it the desired type...did I make myself as clear as slurry? Good suggestion! All will be mixes, but I will lean heavier on the desired type. Easy enough!

I will get some MFRB's tomorrow, and see how much I can stuff in there. I will weigh it and post a price per box. If you want to send me a PM, giving me an idea of sizes and types (Pet Wood, Jasper, Agate, combination), I will send you the Paypal link and price, when I figure out the weights. No guarantees, but I will do my best to accommodate your requests.
Thanks, Jeremy

Excuse the ignorance, but is it protocol to post a paypal link in this thread, or to send it in a PM?

would $10 for a large FRB, be fair? FYI, I believe it is unlawful to sell rocks that are collected from Public Lands. Sooooo..... How about, the rocks are "Free", but I will charge a $1.50 / lb + the freight, for "Labor", to haul the rocks a mile, uphill, through sand and water? I'm not looking to open a new business, just spread the treasures from my area to those, who would most appreciate them. I appreciate the advice, as I have no experience in the rock sales, arena.

Wow!!!!! I did not expect that kind of response, to that post!!! I feel very blessed to have this resource, so close to home..... I had never thought about selling any of my finds, but recouping some of my expenses, to help fulfill the needs of fellow Rockhounds, would be ok! I have no idea what to sell this for? ? would $10 for a large FRB, be fair? I would be willing to swap material from your area. I want to make sure that everyone understands, these are not all A grade material and will be strait out of the gravel. I will send the best I have, taking out most of the obvious losers. I have attached some pictures of recent hunts, to give you an idea of the material (they were taken at 4:30, this morning on my way out the door). I will take closeups if needed. Much of this will be best viewed, cut. I have separated the Red Jasper (really bad photos) and Pet Wood. If you let me know what sizes and types, you are looking for, I will do my best to accommodate. If I do sell them, I will need help with the best way to set that up. Thanks, Jeremy
