Montana mossys are so pretty. Is the first one with the kind of metallic half-moon looking inclusions a moss agate? Kind of unusual and fun.

Way to go Tim! I like the design on the wrap. And what a spectacular shine on that obsidian! What kind of obsidian is that? Not sure, a friend gave me a little piece, unknown origin, that he thought might be some kind of sheen obsidian. You can make out layers in it. It does change color a bit in different light but I wasn't able to make it really flash. The slab he gave me was ~ 1/2" thick so it's a thick cab and might have been more flashy if i'd ground it down a little more. I also didn't think to polish the backs before cabbing and just gave this a half-assed hand polish on the flat side, but even that seemed to noticeably improve the color change. I have a couple more cabs of this that i'll do the backs properly on a lap and maybe they'll be slightly flashier. Thanks for the feedback Jason

Whenever i get down on myself i remember what it was, a few pieces of wire and a rock.

I love Lan Ahn's channel, both for the full tutorials and the variety of individual techniques. I'd always assumed they were female by the shape of their hands. Your bracelet turned out great. Nice warm patina. The elegance of repeated patterns is so beautiful when done consistently.

Nice reminder that the artist makes the wrap, not the wire. Love how you keep your wire so unobtrusive, the first one in particular looks more like a fancy setting than a wrap. Super duper.

If your ceramic hasn't been all the way through polish it's going to be a bit coarse for polish stage and may give you more headaches than the plastics. I assume the plastics do hold a bit of your polish and mud (hence the color) but if they're only used for polish stage don't know how that would hurt anything, other than the plastic not giving a hard surface to grind against. The plastic should only hold stuff on imperfections on its surface, it won't absorb anything unless you're using foam or something porous.

I don't understand that setting but it's gorgeous. I mean i don't understand how it was constructed, but it looks like a complex process that may have involved some sort of elder-race magic. Hey jasoninsd if you right-click the cloudinary photo and 'Open Image in New Tab' it will open full-size for your viewing pleasure.

Nice wraps Tela, it's always a pleasure to see your work. As someone who's only ever used copper wire I wonder if there are noticeable differences when wrapping with copper compared to silver? Any specific advantages to one or the other that stood out to you when working with copper again?

Cool project and video. Did you get a decent shine on the AO80 batch? 80 Aluminum Oxide Grit who takes the money for that stuff ? Rockshed and Kingsley north don't appear to stock it? Google search I do see blasting media sold on Amazon and Ebay listed as above. thanks in advance I was buying white AO80 from Panadyne Abrasives in 10# packages, but their website is now offline and I'm not sure they're still selling retail. If you find a good outlet please share.

Shaping up nice. They're all lighting up as you progress so by the time you get to polish i predict they won't require an additional light source

Baculites are my favorite fossil and are fun to work with... You scored a nice bunch there .. I cut my longer pieces in two, length wise, you can see the chamber patterns and each one in different... I just use the expando wheels and sandpaper on the exterior of the fossils, they do bring up a great polish.. Photos are on here from long ago .. I've seen some of your sliced pieces in old threads and they are pretty. I've cut a few but most of mine are so crumbly that i haven't attempted polishing any. Tempted to hand-polish one for fun.

Granted that trip seemed almost like you were begging for trouble, but props for persevering and getting home. One thing that might be beneficial, get a phone / tablet whatever with a GPS chip in it so you can use map apps offline (and / or have a paper map backup). Being dependent on internet / cell service isn't a reliable option anywhere outside city limits.
