I'd had my Barranca Diamond 10 inch saw for about a year now, and ever since I got it the blade alignment has been off, visibly so. Doesn't run parallel with the movement of the vice. I believe the saw marks I'm getting on my cuts are due to this issue.
Can someone please advise on how to go about fixing the blade alignment on this saw? I'm not very handy but will do the best to try any suggestions I get. It would even be useful to know what kind of service professional might be able to fix such an issue. I don't have any lapidary clubs around me to go for help.
Any general advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hawking was an inspirational man. I'm not qualified to assess the scope of his work or his scientific theories, but anyone who can overcome the physical limitations that he suffered under to go on and live a full and productive life, gets my full respect. Few people understand his science, but everyone can relate to the challenge of overcoming adversity. The adversity that most of us suffer is insignificant compared to permanent paralysis from the neck down.
Disease can strike anyone. Would I have the same willpower as Hawking in his situation? I can only hope so, but I doubt it.

On a related topic, since many people recommend just throwing the slurry outside in the weeds, is there any risk that this will create a lot of rock dust over time that can be dangerous to breathe (if you ever walk over the area and disturb the ground)?
For this reason I try to dry my slurry out in a bucket and throw it in the trash.

Beautiful. Thanks for posting. Can I ask you what lens you use to take these?

Nice tumbles. Because only a few of the bots seemed to have the crescent impact fractures, it doesn't seem to be your tumbling process causing it. These are river washed bots that naturally have a lot of impact fractures as they rolled around in the river. They impact fractures should only be surface deep so tumbling those problem ones further should clear them up.

15lb thumler's barrel shouldn't have a problem breaking down 36 grit. I've used that machine to break down 30 grit with no issues.
That said, if you have any issues, it might be because the tumbling action is too gentle, in which case I would suggest putting a few bigger rocks in the load, or one big rock.

Do it once and save the search. It will show up on the left side of your screen and then all you have to do it click on it to run the search. Ah, thanks. This may actually be a solution. I'll have to try it and see how many sellers I can exclude.

I know I can exclude words or sellers from searches, but I would have to type in about 50 to 100 sellers each time I do a search, an impractical proposition. These are professional sellers that spam the site with commoditized/over priced items.

I love looking for deals on ebay too. However, I wish Ebay offered the ability to permanently block certain sellers from your search results. 90% of the sellers for the stuff I look for never post anything that interests me, or never post good deals. So I end up having to scroll thru tons of stuff to find the few things that might be interesting.
I've stopped looking for lake superior agates because its become 3000 listings of over priced agates from professional sellers. Trying to find a few interesting listings in there is just not worth the effort. This is part of the downside when a marketplace becomes too commercialized.

Yeah this happens to me too with the model B. I just put enough newspapers to raise one side of the tumbler and tweak around it it until the barrel stops moving to one side. (beyond just looking to level it)

Great stuff as usual. My favorite picture is number 3. The colors and variety are very pretty. Reminds me of a cake or a pile of fruit.

I hoard them like Golem from Lord of the Rings.
Sometimes I also fondle them while muttering, "myy preeecciouusss."

I'm a newbie that bought a covington vibrating flat lap so I can probably provide provide some insight into why they are popular: they're the cheapest widely available option for polishing a flat face. That's why I bought it.
I agree with all your complaints here, and I regret my purchase. They do require a lot of babysitting, and they make a mess. I haven't been able to get it to produce a good polish, and the work cleaning up the lap and the rocks is a huge pain. Frankly, its not enjoyable and feels highly inefficient to me, so the lap sits there unused.
As far as I can see, the other options for me to polish flat faces are either flat laps or a bull wheel. Not knowing enough about how well these machines work makes me hesitant to avoid another bad equipment purchase.

Its more profitable then leaving them sitting in plastic bins in my basement, lol. My show bin holds about 50 pounds and folks get to fill velvet bags with them so it is pretty entertaining listening to all the comments as they find their treasures. This is just a hobby but it is an expensive hobby. Selling some jewelry and tumbles keeps me from dipping into the family budget. Chuck Thanks for the explanation. I'm getting some grief at home about my limited activity and have generated a bin of polished rocks. Almost all of it is stuff that I self collected and isn't very interesting to anyone but me. I've spent money on a couple of tumblers and grit and some rough and now I'm being told that if I want to continue I need to make some money from it. I can't realistically think of a way to do it so my tumbling days may be numbered. I said at least let me use up my 50lb box of coarse grit before I have to quit. It's more than half full so I still have a little time. Anyway sorry for the rambling. Hey its a hobby. I don't know of any hobby that's supposed to make money instead of costing money. I tell my significant other that while I play with rocks, at least I don't spend the money on buying cocaine or something. She always enjoys that one, haha.

For clarification, I do oil both the shafts and motor. This ringing sound is clearly coming from the motor and I would bet that my issue, along with Hankrocks issue, is due to something defective in the motor.

I oil the motors once a month. I do have 3 model B's total. The other two are a bit over one year old and don't have this problem either. Seems to be an one off bad motor perhaps.
I'm far from handy, but I'll try playing around with it like pauls was nice enough to suggest. This ringing sound it gives off travels surprisingly far and is driving me a bit crazy.

Actually started having this same "high-pitched whine" on my model B as well. Unfortunate..since I've had mine for less than a year.

Etsy is profitable, they generated 5% operating income margins in 2016. However their growth has slowed, revenues is growing about 15% this year compared to about 40 to 50% in 2015 and 2014. So the stock has done poorly since it went public a few years ago. There is probably pressure on them with the CEO leaving and poor performance, so would guess that's why they're cutting costs.
There's not really new competitors for Etsy other than Ebay (old competitor) and Amazon handmade, which has gotten limited traction I believe. The issue is that Etsy's products generally just have a limited market. (I research stocks for a living.)
