I've never used hxtal but I have glued cabs in settings with other brands of 2 part epoxy. I think 60 grit, although it will definitely do the trick, is excessive. 220 would be the lowest I'd go. Acetone should work well to clean the buckle. Don't forget PPE, as I'm sure you know it's somewhat nasty stuff. Brother, 10-dash 4 on the 220, And I guess I don't know what PPE is?

In was going to Use HXTAL 2 Part Epoxy To Glue Cab Stones On a Belt Buckle. It is my understanding that both pieces need to be cleaned well. I watched a Youtube Video on how to mix and Epoxying Glass Together with HXTAL. And the guy uses Calcium Carbonate or whiting as he calls it to clean the glass. I was going to hit the back of the cab on a 60 grit lap to give it some teeth to cling to and Can I use lacquer thinner or acetone to clean the cab and belt buckle before I apply HXTAL? Any Advice Please. The Guy is cleaning the glass about 10:30 into the video.

The Fundamental Rockhound. It was advertised as amber, no mention of copal anywhere in the description. I've ordered from them before, mostly specimens and been happy. Working on getting a refund. Here's part of the description copied and pasted: Natural amber rough size 4 - Sizes average 2" to 4" average. These are rough, natural pieces of dark amber. Occasionally you may find an insect and occasionally one will fluoresce under SW. I have ordered myself from him and never have been disappointed. Let us know how it turns out. Are you ordering Baltic Amber? If so and you find a good source I would like to know also. Thanks.

Wow very interesting! Looks like they will have to rewrite the history books again. The next article Astronaut's 'Space Map' leads to amazing discovery in Caribbean was also very interesting too.

I have read and reread about mounting this tumbler on a concrete block, but what if you bolt the tumbler to a heavy duty huge home made work bench. I was thinking of 1/4 inch bolts with nylon locking nuts so they would not loosen up. The bench I'm wanting to bolt to takes 4 of us to pick up, vibration won't be a issue, meaning the bench shaking. I have bad knees and other rock tumblers so I was thinking of grouping all the tumblers together on 1 big heavy work bench. What do you think, good idea ? Thanks for any input. Cman60 Hi cman60, Where is this Work Bench going to be located? I have Harbor Freight Oak Workbenches With My Two Lot"O"s mounted on top of concrete block's The Blocks are rubber mounted on Top of the workbenches. The Workbenches are Bolted to the walls of my Lap Shop. I love my Lot"O"s but they sure can make a Racket! My Lap shop is located in an add on room in my Detached Garage, if it was near the house I would have a Noise Problem. I had to build a Frame because the damn things would try and walk off the workbench. If I knew what I knew now, I would have purchased Thumler UV-10 Tumblers They set on the workbench don't move at all and are Very Quite except when the lid is removed. I speak from experience because I have both. Just watch the Video 1:10 minutes in to here the Lot"O" Racket. Good Luck

I pulled a Puny amount of fossils out of the tumbler using Rob's Jugglerguy 's recipe, incidentally if you haven't tried it, It kicks ass is all I can say! I like it when things that work an his recipe delivers. I have added 20 stones in a Lot"O" with no problems so I fired up a Thumler B and filled it up per Rob's Instructions and ran it through the first two tumbling stages. And since they have been sitting in the ON DECK CIRCLE for a couple days. Tonight I freed up up the UV-18 with a Mixed Batch that finished, so I changed Bowls with an Ole Bowl I had, and added 10 + lbs of Petoskey Stones Corn Cobb media and 500G AO which is the 3rd stage of Rob's recipe. They will run for 3 days then bowl will be washed out dried and switched over to 3 days in the Polish Stage. I will add to this post with my results. Below are some pics and Video of the UV-18 in action. Rob how do you think the last two stages would work on Shell's? The Wife has a Jar of Shells I would like to try. Rob's Post and Recipe here. After these two pictures is the UV-18 Video

That sodalite is really awesome. It really stands out. Do you know the location it came from? Yes Tela, TRS. I think it was in the Medium Mixed, I pretty much buy all my rock from Shawn and the rest I buy off of Flee Bay.

Wow Chuck, that is one heck of a nice display! MaryJane has a show next weekend and we don't have near the size of display you have yet. For our stones I have then Displayed in Harbor Freight Compartment Boxes. She has cases of etched glass to display along with jewelry and the stones. I have never taken a dime for anything I buy or work I have done. I do it so she has spare spending $$$. Anyway that's a nice display very organized.
