I have been using PS Elements to edit some hard copy photos that I digitized to use on my digital frame. In the newest version, there is a function that I had never used and didn't think I would- till now.
I have a super cute pic of my granddaughter that I wanted on my frame, but her eyes were closed. So, I selected another picture from the same time that had her eyes open. I pushed a button and this happened.
 I used the copy stand for the second one. Note that the eyes in the picture that the program used as a substitution were smaller and oriented differently, but the program adjusted and compensated. They look just like her eyes. |

This is one reason I will never again trust that any picture (or video for that matter) is truly legitimate...

When I looked at those faces I saw about four or five I had the strongest strangest feeling. If I had not known that was a fake face I would have been totally duped. I look at the picture and part of me looks for a soul behind the eyes. It was as if my empathy new it was being fooled but what scares me is if you haven't said they were fakes would I have known the difference? Ide be a sucker for some serious catfishing. Lol |

It really shows you how easy deep fakes can be. Super simple. I was shocked. I've been watching America's Got Talent. They had a couple guys that came up with a computer program that would film someone singing live...and the technology would alter the face to someone else...and in this case is was the faces of the judges that was used. All I could think was it is now possible to have someone give a speech of some kind and replace that person's face with say a political figure. It's reached the point of me believing nothing...and trusting even less. |

They used to say "A picture is worth a thousand words"...except now, that has been devalued to the point of a picture being worth only a few words, such as "Really?", or "Yeah right!" |

Scary Tech. Some of the AI drawing apps out now are pretty wild. You tell it what you want and it creates a picture for you.
